 – What's that place?

Dove looked at her surroundings with shivers across her entire body; she was not used to that kind of decor, and her whisper going to waste since he didn't hear her didn't arrange that. They had just entered one of Dufferdale's most chic restaurant, and she was already feeling out of place. The building's modern interior was more expensive than everything she ever saw before, and a single vase probably costed more than her entire apartment. Venom, on the other side, didn't seem bothered at all, and by the way waiters bowed in front of him, she could tell he was a regular. He led the way to a lodge in the back without rushing himself, and entered without a knock. However, she hesitated, and stood at the door, fidgeting at her jacket's zipper. She couldn't see who was inside from there, and began to worry. Venom's voice brought her back to her sense:

– Hey, Dove, come in.

She ended up taking a step forward, then another one, finally entering the room. This was a small lounge, with still enough space to contain two white silk sofas and a low table of according colors. She detailed the persons present there; on the first couch, right next to Venom, was seated a thin young man with dark pink hair, black eyes, and overall, the appearance of a model. On the second one was a black-haired man, with fierce, yellow eyes fixated on her while he crossed his arms in a frown. Beside him was a young woman with flashy orange hair, a cheerful expression on her fair face, that contrasted with the one at her side. They were all around her age, but somehow, she felt like they were superior to her.

She did not move an inch, too impressed by the people in this room for that; they were all purebloods, and all Amnesia's Lieutenants, except for the dark-haired one, that was a transfer. Yet, considering how bulk he was, she couldn't doubt he was fully-trained. The one next to Venom showed her a bright smile, tapping the place between them.

– Sit next to me, he exclaimed, in a tone so friendly it surprised her.

– No way, retorted the redhead, why would she sit next to you? Dove, come here! Claw doesn't bite!

– Back at you, sis! Why would she sit next to you? Don't listen to her, Dove!

However, their quarrels puzzled her so much she froze there, unable to decide where she should head to. She had been used to people moving away from her in classrooms, and now that she was a nobody in a classy restaurant, some influential gang members were fighting over who would sit next to her? What caused that sudden change? Was it because for once, she didn't hide her life flow? She was too tired of holding it back constantly, and sensing how the four Lyfers had it totally unleashed, there was no way she could motivate herself to cover it. They looked so free, while the lifestyle she imposed herself was making her feel more and more asphyxiated. Anyways, after everything that happened, she would have to let go, she wouldn't be able to continue that way. During the time she was lost into her thoughts, their arguments kept on going, and she resolved to put an end to it. Against all odds, she went to sit next to the young woman, and this one immediately expressed her happiness by hugging her.

– M'aww, see? She came to me!

– T-that's because this couch was closer! It's unfair!

– Don't be like that, Phase! She just likes me better than you!

The so-called Phase began to pout, arms crossed, as Dove was still getting squeezed by her. Venom sighed heavily, as a way to signal to them it was time to stop. She ended up letting go of the brunette, smiling.

– Venom's right, she said, we're really bad hosts! We didn't even introduce ourselves!

– You're the one who grabbed her like that without even telling her your name first! Complained Phase, annoyed.

– So, Dove, that asshole's name is Phase! The guy at your right is Claw, and as for me, I am Blaze!

Dove nodded, slightly waving at them with a light smile.

– N-nice to meet you, she told them, softly.

– Whoa, you have such a nice voice, exclaimed the pink-haired man. Do you sing?

– Oh, thanks... Y-yes I do?

She didn't know where to sit anymore; they seemed to appreciate her presence, and it was a brand-new sensation to her. She glanced at Venom, who understood her uneasiness and forced Phase to shut up by a light punch on his shoulder.

– Alright, let her breath guys, he sighed. We're here to talk seriously.

He crossed his legs, observing them all one by one. While the others seemed pretty much relaxed, Dove was sitting in a stiff posture, and what he was about to say wouldn't help. But he had no other choice; he had to bring up the subject.

– Dove, everyone in this room knows you're a high-rank pureblood.

___________

– Since when did you become so lazy? Right, right, left, kick! No, faster than that! D'ya want an uppercut to break your cute face, or what? Hey, at this point, you're askin' for it! Move your damn lazy butt!

The old man's yells exasperated him more than the lack of sleep did, and threw one last, furious punch right in the other guy's face. It landed in his jaw with so much strength it knocked him out instantly, and the oldest began to scream louder.

– Fuck, Sphinx, are ya crazy?! Go check on him, you lil shit!

– Move your damn lazy butt and go check on him yourself.

– Don't ya dare talk to me like that, brat, I-...

He did not finish his phrase: Sphinx's boxing gloves ended right in his face, silencing him. The mint-haired young man passed under the ring's fences and he approached his – ex – coach menacingly. At that sight, this one started to tremble; the boxer was way taller and bulkier than him, in addition of being a pureblood. He messed up. The youngest scowled, and it was almost as if his hazel eyes were in flames.

– I'm talking to you the way it pleases me to talk to you. Got this, gramps?

His muscles tensed up; he was about to throw a stealthy uppercut right into the man's stomach, but another voice resonated.

– Behave, Sphinx.
