– What exactly are ya searchin' for, greeny-blue boy? To pick a fight?
– First of all, that's called mint, you illiterate shithead. And let's not lie, you're the ones who started that shit, and you're the ones I'll end along it. Well, if you don't behave.
Sphinx's shrug annoyed Jun and his friends to the point they would have gladly hit him in the face, if he wasn't a pureblood. They gritted their teeth and clenched their fists, glaring at the Amnesia's member with eyes full of anger. Inside of the dark alley behind the university, the atmosphere was getting tenser and tenser with every passing seconds, and yet, it amused Sphinx. Him too would've gladly starting the fight, if that wasn't for what Ether told him earlier; behave. The violence he showed lately had been frowned upon by the other Lieutenants, and while his direct boss wouldn't say anything about that, Ether, Venom and Blaze were very vocal on this subject. However, he couldn't stay silent either about these guys' actions towards Dove. Maybe Seon had a pass earlier, but they needed a bigger warning. He took a step forward, getting his hands out of his jeans' pockets.
– Listen, just get off of Dove's back, he said and our roads won't have to collide again.
– What are ya, snickered Jun, her boyfriend? Tell us, is she any good in bed?
Sphinx could feel his muscles tensing as they began to laugh; they were crossing the limit. He was genuinely wondering if they were realizing who they were talking to. He could end them in a snap, and they were still fooling around, insulting her even further? This was above than what he could tolerate, but he still felt stuck. If he gave in, it would get him severely scolded, or even retrograded. He backed off, as if putting some distance between him and them could calm him.
– Seriously, just stop. I don't wanna get in trouble, and you don't wanna die.
– Fuck, not even defending your girl's honor? Is she that bad?
Calm down, he thought, turn around and calm down. Dove would say they're not worth it, so stay calm. He obeyed his thoughts, swinging around and heading to exit the alley. He had to bite his lip to refrain the insults he was about to let out, and he could feel a headache forming from all that rage. But Jun had another idea, and raised his voice, in a mocking tone:
– Hey, since yer not answering, I guess I'll have to discover it by myself, huh? And since your Lieutenant won't be around all time, tell that bitch to get nice and ready for me, will ya?
– ... What did you just say?
Here went his patience. Sphinx cracked his knuckles, and went back, with only one phrase in his head: fuck what the bosses said.
__________
At such a request, Dove's eyes widened; was she dreaming, or was her idol asking her to break into a police station? She gave an anxious look to the man at her side, but the smile he showed her eased her mind.
– That'll be easy, Dove, don't worry, he told her. You get in, you get the files, you get out.
– Y-yeah, sure sounds easy but... Why me? I'm not trained at all?
– Cops don't know your face. They won't wary of a model student like you, too. And I'll be around at all time.
She nodded; for that, yes, she was totally unknown by them. Maybe the strict lifestyle she followed before all of these events would be useful, this time, and somehow, this thought reassured her. With a determined expression, she looked back at Ether.
– Then I'm in, she said. Tell me everything I need to know, and I'll do my best not to deceive you.
– Good, answered the other woman. In that case, let me explain you two the plan.
Both Claw and Dove acquiesced, focusing on the Lieutenant and waiting for her to give them more details. Leaning against the piano, she cleared her throat before starting:
– This will takes place tomorrow morning, at seven. The police station is in a free zone, which means no other gangs to be cautious of. Claw, you will drive Dove there. Dove, you'll enter, and you will request to file a claim, but precise that you will only speak to the Detective Kwann. He's the one in possession of the files. An officer will lead you to the corridor and ask you to wait there, and this is when Claw will come back to create a diversion. I trust you on that, you know your ways. During this time, Dove will enter the Detective's office. The files should have the name Amnesia written on them, and will probably be on top of his desk. So from there, you do not think anymore, Dove. You grab them, and you run away. There is a cafe right in front of the station, you will go and wait for Claw there. He'll get out as he always does, and rejoin you there. The two of you will then come back here. Is it all clear?
Dove never imagined that she would commit such things, and by so, had no idea of what she could even ask about this. Claw, on the other side, had things to say about it, crossing his arms.
– You sure trust my escaping abilities... But what about the surveillance cameras? He questioned.
– I already asked Tracer, she'll be on it.
– Alright. It's good for me. You, Dove?
– Yes, understood.
Ether woke up, and the two imitated her.
– Claw, drive Dove back, she ordered. She'll need to get ready for her first mission.
– Of course.
– Dove, that was a pleasure meeting you. I'll see you tomorrow.
– S-same, Madam Sadaaki. I wish you a good night.
The black-haired man headed towards the exit, and after a bow to the lady, the youngest followed.
The ride to her apartment seemed way less funny to her; she was nervous, and she couldn't help it. Even when they stopped, she stayed clutched on Claw for an instant. Despite his fluster, he didn't say a word, simply waiting for her to get down. She ultimately did, letting out a heavy sigh as she passed a hand through her hair.
– Thanks for the drive, Claw, she simply said, and goodnight.
She turned around, and he observed her walking to her building with a contradicted expression; why did he hesitate so much to let her alone?
When Dove arrived at the door, she glanced at where her friend was parked to wave at him, but instead stepped back, surprised, when he caught her hand.
– Let me stay with you tonight.
