The next morning, the feelings of the sun rays onto her face and her naked shoulders awoke her. She took a deep breath, opening her eyes, and the first sight that greeted her brought a wide smile on her face; she was still in Sphinx's arms, her head rested onto his chest. Him was still asleep, and his peaceful expression pleased her. Suddenly, she remembered of the night they just spent together, and the sensations she reminded made her cheeks turn red. And it was at this exact moment that the young man woke up, rolling on his side to face her, smiling.
– What are you blushing for, babe? He asked her in a yawn.
– Good question, she chuckled. And there's lot of answers to that.
– Mh, quite right.
Tenderly, he caressed her cheek, leaning in to put a soft kiss on her lips, that she quickly joined, pressing her body closer to his. Since yesterday, every of his gestures was so loving she could melt from them, and it made her so enthralled that, if she could, she would stay there with him for her entire life. However, a bell rang into her mind, and she parted, with widened eyes.
– Fuck, she exclaimed, don't we have classes?!
At her phrase, he couldn't help but burst off laughing; even after leading men into a war against another gang, Dove was still the model student, worried of skipping lessons. With a smirk, he stole her another kiss, his fingertips lowering to her breasts.
– Venom told the teacher we'd be back on Friday. But hey, would you abandon me for school?
– That wouldn't count as abandoning, you'd be coming with me, she giggled. But now that you put it that way...
Her palm ran across his torso, from his collarbone to the lower part of his stomach, tearing away an aroused growl from him. Nevertheless, as he was about to come above her, she pushed him back down in a laughter, and was the one on the top. She tilted her head to the side, grinning.
– First one to the shower?
– First one to the shower.
They were both up in a blink and were readying themselves to run to the bathroom. However, they stopped; Dove's phone went on. Surprised, she sat back on the bed, searching for her jeans through all the mess they made. Sphinx sat next to her with a pout, wrapping his arms around her waist and bending in to kiss the back of her neck.
– Don't answer, babe, he pleaded.
– It could be important, she replied with a chuckle.
– We were about to do something way more important...
He began to nibble on her shoulder, and she couldn't refrain a light moan, but still managed to seize her cellphone from her pocket. She showed him a smile and came to sit on his lap, as he held her by the hips.
– Let me just answer that, love.
He nodded, putting his face into her neck to inhale more of her scent, while she picked up.
– M'yeah?
– Hi lil sis, it's Blaze!
– Oh hey big sis! Is everything okay?
– Well... I need both you and Sphinx over there. Could you two come to Phase's restaurant as soon as possible, please?
– Sure. Just the time to get-...
– Clothed?
–...Ready. Just the time to get ready.
– Alright. Please do quick... It's urgent.
Blaze hung up, and the duo gave each other a look, eyebrows frowned.
– It sure sounded urgent, remarked Sphinx.
– Yeah... Let's hurry up.
__________
– So, Blaze's Lieutenant got a hint of your plan? How deceiving.
– He did not. All he did was see me at the hospital... But he'll keep his trap shut.
– You pulled the right string?
At Veil's question, Ether nodded, and he finished playing the piano by tapping on the lowest key before swinging his seat around to face her. The woman was nervous, and he could sense it. He crossed both his arms and his legs, observing her.
– Do you think the product worked?
– Yes. I gave her the right dose... That should've been enough to bring some things back.
– And now? What's the plan?
– We wait. There's no need to make another move, yet... Dove is a smart girl, she'll connect the dots by herself.
Still, it worried her, and it showed. Veil let out a small sigh; him too was taking big risks in that. If Ether was to fall, she would bring him down with her, and he was perfectly aware of it. But if she was to win... He could have all the power he ever dreamed off, and more.
– Why don't you help her to remember it? After all, you know the entire story.
– If I tell her I know who assassinated her parents, I won't sound like an ally, but like the accomplice of their murderer. And this is simply impossible.
She sat on the white sofa with a sigh, holding her head between her hands; stress was giving her a migraine. The brown-haired man left his seat to take place next to her, patting her shoulder.
– I'm still persuaded someone else could've done the job, rather than this girl.
– Trust me, Veil, nobody else can. He has grown too powerful by now, and he has way too many purebloods at his feet.
– Then why her? Her life flow is high, sure, but nothing extraordinary. He will end her in a mere snap.
– You just don't understand. When she'll learn what he did, she'll need to take revenge. And that need will unleash her true power. He won't manage to kill her that easily.
– Do you really think she can take him down?
– I'm persuaded of it. Only the purest of purebloods can have a chance, and she's that one, Veil. Our only chance.
He acquiesced and leaned onto the back of the couch, looking up at the ceiling.
– Now, let's pray it'll go well, he murmured. We need our glory back. And more than that... We need it magnified.
