 – Because I love you, Dove.

As soon as he whispered this phrase, he pressed his lips against hers, in a motion as delicate as powerful; it sent a sudden wave of warmness into their body, and they couldn't deny that in no time, they would both get addicted to this sensation. Eyes closed, she joined the kiss, passing her forearms around his neck while he held her closer to him. From a shy one, it quickly evolved into a deep one, their tongues meddling with each other's. Some instants later, they parted, their cheeks dark red and their breath ragged. Sphinx pushed a blonde lock behind her ear delicately, observing her open-mouthed; he could barely believe that after all these days dreaming of holding her, she was finally in his arms. Dove too had to come to a similar realization; yes, she had the right to have her very own fairy-tale. She smiled, and he could've sworn it was the brightest smile he ever saw on this woman.

– I love you too, Sphinx.

In a chuckle, she stole him a quick kiss, which he took back almost instantly, laughing along her. They were happy, maybe happier than ever, and they couldn't hide it, nor did they even try. There, in each other's embrace, they felt safe, maybe even invincible, just like nothing could attain them. Nothing could hurt them, as long as they would have each other, and their thoughts resonated like a silent promise they did not utter but yet would forever keep on.

– Does that mean I'm your boyfriend, now?

His question amused her and she nodded, giggling.

– Then let's skip boxing tomorrow, he said with a smirk, I wanna take my girlfriend on a date.

– That's not very wise of you, Mister the boxing teacher!

– C'm'on, you'll be a champion in no time anyways!

They shared a laugh as she acquiesced, resting her entire upper body against his.

– Alright, then. Where are we going?

– Surprise.

– You're making me curious!

– That's the goal.

He tightened his grip around her, and before she could even reply, he woke up, carrying her in his arms. She gasped, instinctively wrapping her legs around his waist to avoid falling, blushing while he was grinning.

– W-what are you doing? She stuttered, entirely flustered.

– I'll show you the bedroom.

– I-I can walk!

– Do you really want me to put you down?

He tilted his head to the side, and she pouted, clenching onto his shirt while looking away.

– Don't. I'm good up there.

They left the living room in a laughter, and he brought her to another room, much messier than the previous one. The large double-bed in its middle was covered of clothes thrown here and there, and so was the floor. At this sight, he made an embarrassed expression, while she began to laugh.

– It looks just like my apartment, she told him, as he put her down on the mattress.

– I'm sorry, I'll tidy this up and-...

– No.

In a swift move, she grabbed his arm, and pulled him down onto her. He braced his fall with his hands, but did not leave her the time to speak anymore, kissing her more intensely than earlier. However, he backed off, embarrassed, and him moving away so abruptly surprised her.

– I-I promised Blaze, he explained. I promised her I wouldn't touch you...

– Then just kiss me goodnight.

__________

– Ven, there's... There's something I need to tell you.

This sudden change of tone from his friend startled Venom, and he watched him with a frown, concerned about what he had to say. He had no idea what it could be about, and it stressed him.

– M'yeah, I'm listening?

On the other side, Dusk was panicking; every bravery he had collected earlier vanished at that frown. No way, he thought, there's no way I can tell him! He showed him a nervous smile and sat back in a rush, rolling his short sleeves to point at a contusion on his left shoulder.

– Look, I've got a new bruise!

Venom rolled his eyes as he leaned on his side; Dusk was an awesome fighter, but a very bad liar. And after thirteen years of friendship, he could perfectly perceive the other man had something way more important to tell him. Yet, he couldn't read him like Atlas could, and it bothered him.

– Spill it, Dusk. You know you can't lie to me.

– ...But can I spill the truth?

– You can tell me everything, y'know it.

No, Ven, the blue-haired man told himself, this I can't... Even if I want to. He sighed and in a shrug, lied down, turning his back to the blonde, who scowled even harder. No, he wouldn't let that pass tonight. He caught Dusk's arm and forced him on his back, coming above him so he would have no other choice but to look at him. Atlas' right-hand man started to blush heavily, frowning.

– Fuck off, Ven, I won't say anything...

– You better hurry up or I'll give you a bruise you'll remember.

– I won't. I don't have the right to ruin it all like that.

– For fuck's sake, ruin what?

Venom raised his voice, and the other showed him a saddened smile, lifting a hand to pass it through his pale hair.

– Ruin now. What we have, what we had. Our friendship.

– ... You're a fuckin' idiot, Dusk.

– I know.

Once again, Dusk tried to leave; at this exact moment, tears were coming into his eyes, and he wanted to disappear, to bury himself ten feet under the ground. But Venom did not hear it this way, and dragged him to himself, locking him into his arms.

– Stop running away, Dusk, he murmured. I'm tired of running after you.

– Then why do you bother?

– Are you that clueless? You moron.

What could he answer to that? Yes, he was totally ignorant on that matter, and even if a hint of hope came into his mind, he'd rather chase it away than face the deception of believing in it with all of his heart. No, there was absolutely no way. He had to mean something else. Venom smiled to him and messed with his hair one last time before closing his eyes.

– Just wake me up when your brain will work, stupid. And go cut your hair, tomorrow. You look like a hobo.

– Piss off.

– M'yeah. Love you too.

– Love m-... What?!
