 – Dove! I beg you Dove, wake up! Come back to me!

In a sharp inhale, she woke up, sitting back in a jump and opening her eyes, frightened. Where was she? What happened? Was it all just a dream? She was breathing so irregularly her chest ached, nails dived deep into the blankets of the bed on which she was. As her sight came back, she finally discerned that she was in a small, entirely white room. Hospital? Her question got answered as she turned her head to the left, noticing the perfusion in her wrist. But what really brought her back to her senses were the strong arms that wrapped around her body, and the broken voice along of it.

– Dove! Oh my God, you're awake!

She looked at her right with tears coming to her eyes; Sphinx was there, leaning onto the bed to hold her close to him, hiding his crying face into her shoulder. She hugged him back, in a sob that was way more from happiness than from fear, now; she was alive, and so was he too. They were both safe and sound. He lightly let go off her to observe her, pushing away some of her blonde locks from her face. Tears were rolling down his cheeks, and his hand running onto hers was heavily shaking.

– You have no idea how much you scared me, you dummy... I thought I lost you. I-I've never been that scared in all my life, Dove...

Tenderly, she dried his tears with her thumb, while hers were still flowing. She couldn't hold them back; not after all of this. Her heart was pounding into her chest as she clenched onto him, like she feared him disappearing.

– I made you a promise, Sphinx, she whispered. I'm here, my love, I'm here... Stop crying...

– You go first on that, baby...

In a chuckle, he bent in and kissed her, and although it wasn't their first kiss, it felt stronger than any others they previously shared. It was the proof that they respected their promise, that they went back to the other. That they succeeded. She didn't let go off his lips for a few seconds, and they both profited of this instant; they were safe, now that they were together. Softly, she pulled him to her, and he gladly nestled on the bed, while she squeezed herself against him. But her stress hadn't been totally eased, yet.

– Please tell me the others are fine too, she murmured, while he wiped her tears with his fingertips.

– Yes, baby, everyone is. You were the only one to get injured that badly.

She sighed of relief and nodded, embracing him as tightly as she could. She put a small kiss on his fingers, and his lips answered it on her forehead, before he lovingly nuzzled her. They were ultimately calmer, even if all of these events shook them up. After a short moment of silence, he showed her a smile, combing her long hair fondly.

– I love you, Dove. I love you with my entire heart.

– I love you too, Sphinx.

She answered the smile, caressing his cheek in delicate gestures, and whispered:

– You're what brought me back, Sphinx.

Her words surprised him, and he opened his mouth to ask her what she meant, but she silenced him, passionately pressing her lips on his. He needed this reassurance too much to part away, and so did she. However, they had to; the door abruptly opened and slammed loudly into the wall, making them jump. Entered Blaze, Phase, Venom and Dusk, almost pushing each other to get in first, under the amused laughter of Dove and Sphinx. The orange-haired woman had been quicker, and rushed to hug the blonde while refraining herself to shed a tear.

– Lil sis, she exclaimed, you're alive!

– I won't be anymore if you strangle me, replied Dove in a giggle.

– Yeah, move Blaze, you're heavy, complained Sphinx, who was getting crushed by her.

– You brat...!

She woke up with an annoyed pout, that turned into a frown when Phase shoved her away to cuddle Dove.

– I'm so glad you're fine, he sighed, as she hugged him back.

– I'm glad you are all okay too, she answered.

He let go off her when Dusk tapped his shoulder, smiling at the young woman.

– I know we're not that close or anything, he started, but-...

– Just come for a hug, already, she chuckled.

He didn't hesitate long, nearly throwing himself into her arms, soon rejoined by Venom.

– Thanks, Dusk, she told him. Without the crew you've selected for me, I would've been dead.

– Talkin' of the crew, said Venom with a smirk, they're now officially your crew, Dove. Congrats on becoming my Lieutenant.

– For real?!

Her excited shout made them all laugh, and her new boss acquiesced, messing with her hair.

– For real, he confirmed. This war was a success. Morphine is not anymore. So yeah, you're a right-hand woman, now, and Sphinx's a Lieutenant.

– Hey, sure I can't have her as my right-hand woman? Questioned Sphinx, head tilted to the side.

– We said no, already, giggled Dusk. You'd be too distracted, boy.

– Eh, can't deny that.

Sphinx and Dove gave each other a look, a bright smile on their lips; they were indeed fine there, surrounded by the person they loved and the ones that were their family. They had a hard time not kissing, but knew the others would tease them for a long time if they dared to do it in front of them. Nevertheless, a knock resonated on the door, and entered Dove's crew. Seeing every of her fifteen men bowing then getting in made her laugh wholeheartedly; the small hospital room was now crowded.

– Hello, Boss, said a first one.

– We're here to pay you our respects, added a second.

– And we brought you chocolate and flowers! finished a third.

– Thank you guys, she giggled.

One of them was about to talk when he got jostled by a doctor, apparently irritated of such a huddle in his unit.

– Crap, he cried out, is it a hospital or a meeting room?! Please get out! Miss Hyo-Jin needs rest!

– Sorry, Sir, we are leaving.

After they left on a table their presents and did another bow, they exited the room, but the medic did not stop there, pointing at the four Lieutenants.

– What about you? Are you family? If not, please leave too!

Blaze was about to answer, but Dove had been faster, smiling.

– They all are family, Doctor.

– ...If you say so, Miss. Anyways, I was coming with your results, and may I say that you're quite a sturdy patient, especially after the fright you gave us! You will be able to get home today. Anyways, I'll be coming back to do a check-up on you in half an hour, so I'll let you and your... Family.

– Thank you, Sir.

He left on a quick nod, and she gave a bright smile to Sphinx.

– See? I'll be coming home to you, tonight.
