 – I can't believe ya did that to her.

– Did what?

– Don't play innocent, Ether. I've seen what you've done. I was there.

Claw's tone became more threatening as he took a step forward, a scowl on his face while he stared at the blonde lady with enraged eyes. How could she pretend nothing happened? He saw it all; although he had pretended he was too busy to go to the hospital, there was no way he wouldn't go to check on Dove. After all, even if he couldn't hope for more, she was still his friend, and he cherished her this way. Ether crossed her arms, frowning; Claw could make her entire plan fail, and she knew it. But she could not tell him the truth, may it be now, or later. He wasn't a part of this, and for his very own sake, he had to stay out.

– You must have been confused, Claw, I-...

– Ye injected her something. A product from Amnesia Corporation. And I wanna know...

In a blink, he pulled a chromed gun from his back, aiming it at her forehead. He readied it, but she didn't flinch; no, he wouldn't fire. He was well-aware of the repercussions it could have on his boss, and all the affection he had for Blaze would hold him back.

– I wanna know what it was, and why you did it yourself, Ether. Why not sendin' one of yer dogs?

– Why? Because it wasn't me, Claw. What could I even inject to Dove? She's one of my most promising trainees.

– Stop fuckin' lying, I said I saw ya!

He lifted a menacing hand towards her face, but right when the hit he threw was about to land, she blocked his life flow, maintaining him on place, irritated. He was going too far; he was still talking to a Lieutenant! In an annoyed gesture, she slapped him, leaving a red mark on his right cheek.

– Enough is enough! If you keep up that way, I'll refer to Atlas, and I can promise you, your boss won't get out unscathed. She disobeyed him too, after all.

– Blaze would never do such a thing.

– There's a lot of things you ignore, Claw. Stay at your place, and stop putting your nose in my business. Because Atlas may not know about your brother, but I do.

The black-haired man flinched, and instantly lowered his weapon; if their leader was to learn that Fang was still alive, both him and Cassiopeia would be in danger. He couldn't risk it, he wouldn't risk it. He stepped back, and Ether barely hid the victorious smirk on her lips; this menace would be enough to keep him in line.

– Good, you do have some senses, after all. Now, tell me, did you talk of that to anyone else?

– No. This is between you and me, Ether.

– Not anymore. If you don't keep it down, Atlas will learn Fang's exact location. And after what happened between these two... I doubt your brother would live until his daughter's next anniversary if Atlas gets to know it.

___________

– Why me?

Phase's bothered whispered nearly went unheard as Blaze dashed to the other corridor quicker than him. He readjusted his black sweatshirt's hood onto his head and rushed after her, head kept low. The young woman nervously watched her surroundings; if they were to get caught, it would be the very end for them. No, Atlas wouldn't forgive them, and that was for sure. She grabbed the other Lieutenant's wrist and dragged him to another hallway, running into it while reading the number of the rooms written on the doors. The fuck, she thought, where can it be? I didn't hallucinated, it was there last time! But tonight, there were no signs of Room AB anymore; no letters were to be seen. The corridor ended, and she stood there, a puzzled look on her face. Phase sighed from annoyance, stopping by her side.

– That was the very worst idea you've ever had, sis...

– I swear, last time I've been there, there was-...

– Listen, you messed up, it happens to all of us. Now, let's get out of-...

– No! I-...

Before she had the time to shout some more, he placed a hand onto her mouth, the other seizing her arm and pulling her away. No, he wouldn't risk his life for such a stupid mission. He accompanied her only to make sure she wouldn't do anything stupid, but that would stop there. On the other side, Blaze's deception was easily visible; her expression turned to a desperate one as she clung onto his sleeve, holding him back.

– I can't turn back now, Phase! I need to find her, do you hear me?!

– How can you be so sure it's going to work, anyways? We can't risk our lives for such a slight chance, Blaze. We're leaving.

– N-...

Yet again, he forced her to shut up, pressing her against the wall, his fingers on her lips. His nerves were getting on the edge, and she sensed it. But she couldn't abandon now. Not after getting so close to her goal.

– We're a family, Blaze, he groaned. We'll talk with the others and find a solution. But it's all for tonight. If we fuck up, then Rune will definitely be dead, so let's head back.

– I-I can't let her in such a state, Phase... I need to save her, do you hear me? I need to save her.

– And we will. But if we get killed by Atlas, then Rune will die along of us. Let's not risk it. The sun's raising, if we don't move, employees will arrive, and it'll be the end.

In a sigh, she finally nodded, and without wasting any more time, the duo ran to the exit. However, their heart leaped into their chest when, at the corner of the hallway, they discerned a silhouette, slowly walking towards them. They abruptly stopped, exchanging a distressed glance; there was no other exit.
