 – You know I can walk, right?

– That's not what the doctor said.

– He never said anything about that.

– You were asleep when he did.

– Move, kiddos, this bag's heavy!

They got interrupted by Dusk, pushing them away from the entrance to put down another sport bag. Both him and Venom insisted to escort them and grab the remaining of Dove's stuff at her previous apartment, before dropping it at Sphinx's. The mint-haired man was still carrying her in his arms, a smirk on his lips, while the two other Lieutenants turned around to face them with an amused expression.

– Our work here is done, said Venom. Are you going to be alright?

Sphinx put her down on the couch and took place next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders as she leaned into him in a yawn. Somehow, a day at the hospital was more tiring than a day at school, and she didn't understand the reasons behind that. She nodded at her boss, resting her head against her boyfriend.

– Yeah, we will, she replied. I just feel like I need to sleep for a whole week.

– Talkin' about sleeping, grinned Dusk, Blaze had a message for you...

– M'aw yeah, added Venom, just as amused as the other. Something like, don't make us come at the hospital in nine months?

– At least, you two are safe from it, retorted Sphinx, with a blush.

The young man's response caught them off-guard, and they observed each other with reddened cheeks, under the laughter of Sphinx and Dove.

– You lil brat, sighed Dusk, heading towards the exit. A'ight, don't say we didn't warn you.

– And get some rest, nodded the blonde. You both need it.

– Thanks, you too, said Dove with a wave.

The Lieutenants left, leaving them there, sitting on the sofa. The young woman lifted her chin up to look at him, and showed him a smile.

– Finally alone, hm? She told him, amused.

– Yeah, finally... No matter how I like 'em all, they can be quite sticky sometimes... And the very worst jokesters around.

He pouted saying that, and in a giggle, she put a small kiss on the corner of his lips; he was really irresistible with these kinds of expression. But as he came back for another, more passionate kiss, it had switched from bothered to amorous, and the look in his eyes were enough to make her sure he never had been happier to have her in his arms. He had been truly afraid of losing her, and he tightened his embrace around her like she could still vanish at any moment. They parted some seconds after, staring into each other's eyes with a smile.

– It's good to be back, she softly chuckled.

– And it's good to have you back, baby, he answered.

He tenderly caressed her cheek, his other hand pushed in her back to keep her pressed against him, a smirk on his face.

– Didn't we have something to finish, yesterday?

– We sure did, she replied with a grin. Where did we stop, already?

– I'll show you in a bit, babe... There's just something I want to ask you.

She nodded, head tilted to the side, hugging him close. After kissing her another time, he questioned her in a murmur:

– Why did you say I'm what brought you back, baby?

__________

– Care to tell me why you crashed at my place again?

– Remember the part where you told me, I'll do better tomorrow, or something like that? Huh?

In a blink, Dusk had been pushed onto the door, loudly closing it in the same time, and the frown on his face turned into a smirk. Venom's body was pressing him against it, and both of them were deeply blushing from their closeness.

– Listen up, he said in a deep voice, that tomorrow I was talking about was yesterday... My offer expired.

– C'm'on, Ven! Seriously?

– Seriously.

– ...Then why are you squeezin' me like that, if you're so serious?

The blonde's firm expression eased with a chuckle, that immediately reassured the other; he was kidding him. Dusk rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, unbelieving of how easily he tricked him.

– You suck, the blue-haired man sighed.

– M'aw, don't be like that. Y'know how much I love teasing you.

And it sucks. Anyways, I want what you promised me.

– That was no promise, whiny boy.

Venom letting go off him made him groan, even more when he left to the kitchen. He followed him with a pout, but as he was able to complain some more, his phone's notification went on. He raised an eyebrow, surprised of getting a message at such an hour, and grabbed it from his jeans' pocket. However, it was when he read it that he was totally astonished. The blonde gave him a look, a box of rat food in the hand.

– What is it? He asked him.

– That's... That's Atlas. I need to go, he wants to see me.

He swiftly swung around and went back to the entrance, but Venom did not hear it that way, and caught his hand, maintaining him there. At the touch, Dusk's eyes widened, and he glanced at him open-mouthed.

– No, you're not going, growled Venom. Not tonight.

– You know I don't have the choice, Ven...

– You do. I'm tired of seein' you running every single time he calls you, just like a good dog. 'Specially since the dog's getting beaten up most of the time.

– It'll only get worse if I don't go.

– I said you weren't going. And if Atlas has a problem with it, he can deal with me.

Venom's fierceness in that matter sent a blush on his face; he never opposed their leader before, quite the contrary. But the blonde wasn't done dazzling him yet, as he dragged him to himself, locking him into his arms.

– Didn't you understand what I said last time, Dusk?

– W-what do you mean?

– I said I love you. And it means Atlas won't touch you anymore, or else, it won't be another gang that I'll go to war against.
