EPISODE 56: XCALIBUR AOP 2! UNION OF THE WORLDS! THE THIRD SESSION! THEROOTS OF CIVILIZATION! THE TWELVE NOBLE PROFESSIONS PART III: THE INTEGRATEDFOOD PRODUCTION SYSTEM PART II: THE ORIGINS OF BARTER TRADE, MEDICINE,TRANSPORTATION AND FISH FARMING

Ariel and Saito were finally done with the Assignment Of The Population to the Four Major Food Production Job Systems. It was finally time to get everyone to work. The entire Population was assigned a sack full of seeds each for starters. While they began to work on their Domestic Farms, Ariel and Saito studied their Feeding Habits. This was factored into the Assignment Of Seeds to the Population to ensure that everyone could at least produce the ingredients for their preferred foods.

Next, Ariel and Saito assigned a portion of the Population that had not been assigned to Food Production to Architecture. They were responsible for the creation of Storage Facilities for both the various foodstuffs and the harvested seeds. Grains, Cereals And Tubers could be stored in barns after drying them under the Sun to get rid of the moisture within them. Moisture plus warmth within food was the perfect recipe for the amplification of the rate of food decay caused by Pathogens living within the food substances. Drying eliminated that threat and lengthened the Preservation period.

Fruits on the other hand had to be frozen in order to prevent decay. When the Juices were extracted, freezing also slowed down the rate of fermentation. Saito and Ariel assigned a 'Freezing' Functionality to the Villagers' abilities. Dreamweavers as I explained earlier possess the ability to create anything out of Dreams and were thus unbound by conventional limitations. The 'Freezing Functionality' or 'Stasis Functionality' allowed the Villagers assigned to Architecture to create special Domes that created Zones Of 'Chronostasis' around themselves for the halting of the time waves flowing around the foodstuffs stored within them.

The 'Chronostasis' Functionality prevented Pathogens from acting on food or rather reduced the rate at which they could act on food rather drastically to lengthen the amount of time it took for food decay to set in. Drying was thus applied to the preservation of Non-Perishable Foodstuffs, that is, foodstuffs that took much longer to decay naturally. These foods after drying could simply be stored in barns. The 'Chronostasis' functionality on the other hand was applied to Perishable Foodstuffs such as Citrus Fruits in order to extend the time it took for them to decay.

Saito and Ariel noted also that there was a section of the Population whom though were capable of producing their own food weren't so adept at cooking. Thus they also directed the Architects to set up many Restaurants and Fast Food Joints. This section of the Population was allowed to eat in the Restaurants for free provided they came with all the necessary ingredients. They were handed menus from various Restaurant Facilities which guided them to produce the crops that bore fruits used to cook a preferred food. If they couldn't produce all the ingredients, they'd have to pay for what they lacked with a product the Chefs considered adequate payment however, the cost of the product named by the Chef could not outweigh the total cost of the food and it could not outweigh the total cost of food products already presented by the one purchasing the meal, when that cost was measured against the total cost of the food. The upside to this system was that the section of the population that fell into this category got to eat even without cooking in the form of various fruits that could be eaten as is or cooked in simple ways such as corn which could be either boiled or roasted. They could also eat any food in a Restaurant freely, provided they had all the ingredients necessary for the preparation of that meal. It was unlikely that there'd be no meal in the menu which didn't have all ingredients available within the Peristylium in the form of seeds that could be sown. The downside to the system though was that if a particular ingredient was absent from the Restaurant's menu, the customer would have to hunt for those foodstuffs themselves so the system balanced itself out.

At last, the food concerns had been settled. Now there was the issue of transporting large numbers of foodstuffs from the Farm to the Storage Facilities through what was now a large town filled with a rapidly growing population. One solution was to erect the Storage and Processing Facilities close to the Farms, another was to create modes of Transportation for the foodstuffs. The bull was of course the best choice for the latter. Next to that was the horse.

Saito assigned a portion of the population assigned to Architecture to the crafting of Carpentry and Wood Workshops. They were to design carts which could be bound to beasts of burden for Transportation purposes and that my friends was why and how the Wheel was invented. Once the Wheel came into play, another major issue popped up. The Wheels easily broke due to uneven roads thus the need to level the Supply Routes for the preservation of Transport Vehicles arose and that my friends was how Road Works came into play.

Saito and Ariel assigned a portion of the Food Production Team to Water Purification and Supply as well. Their job was to expand the Water Purification And Supply Systems and thus ensure that every citizen of the Peristylium had access to Water. They also established Sewage Systems to both get rid of Waste Products and to prevent Flooding. Architects were directed to put up Structures away from Waterways to prevent blocking the Waterways and worsening the potential danger of Flooding.

Meanwhile, Ariel sent Villagers out on Hunting Expeditions to study the Feeding Habits of Animals that had similar genomes and digestive systems to that of humans. The purpose of this was to compile a Repository of Edible Foods. Sometimes, they were fortunate enough to chance upon an animal that had been hit by a Debilitating Stat caused by something in its environment. When they found such an animal, they scanned it with the Scorpio System to generate a map leading to the source of Debilitation. They took inventory of the cause of Debilitation as well as its effects. They concealed themselves and observed the animal to discover how it dealt with the Debilitation. Some Debilitating Stats could be cured by taking a dip in Water, some by eating specific diets and some, as strange as it sounds could be cured simply by Sunbathing. These cures were mapped to specific Debilitating Stats as well as their causes to generate a detailed inventory of illnesses, causes, symptoms and cures.

While Ariel busied herself with compiling this inventory, Saito assigned some villagers to demarcating Marine Boundaries. Fishermen were sent out to Sea to observe the feeding habits of Marine Mammals and to bring back preferred diets of these Marine Mammals alive for rearing in the Peristylium within the Demarcated Marine Boundaries. This was the beginning of a new type of Farming, Fish Farming. The Feeding Habits of the captured species of fish was observed to allow the Fishermen to hunt for Quality Feed to sustain the Fish Farms. Ocean Life was generally observed to understand the specific environments in which various species of Ocean Life thrived and the interactions amongst the species in an attempt to simulate that environment in the Fish Farms. All these Methods led to the creation of a complex but interconnected Food Production Economy. Most animal products could also be preserved via the 'Chronostasis' Method.

Also, by ensuring that the Populace only ate as much as the Peristylium could breed and cultivate, the problem of a general food shortage could be minimized and the likelihood for the extinction of a particular species of animal reared for food could be minimized.
