"Today Aileen and I will be teaching you about Wavelengths or simply put Waves" Aunt Ai said.
"Waves?" we asked curiously.
"Amongst the Seven Elements, there are some that possess the ability to produce energy in their raw form. These elements include Fire which produces Heat Energy, Wind which produces Kinetic Energy, Earth which produces Magnetic Energy, Time which produces Chrono Energy, Water which produces Hydroelectric Energy, Lightning which produces Electric Energy and Light which produces Light Energy. Every element that possesses the ability to produce some form of energy either in its raw form or via interaction with some other element possesses the capacity to generate what is referred to as a 'Wave'" Aunt Ai explained.
"You can think of a Wave as a sort of after-effect that allows one to perceive the effects of an element which may not necessarily be visible to the eyes. For instance, we can feel the effects of Heat. We know that Heat is generated by the Sun or by Fire but we cannot see Heat itself. We can see Light through its effects on our environment but the actual Light is invisible. We can feel the movement of the Wind but cannot see the Wind itself. Waves are a kind of imprint allowing us to sense the presence of elements that are ordinarily invisible" Aileen I explained.
"Every human being has an affinity for a particular element. This implies that we have the capacity to generate forms of energy associated with elements we have an affinity for. This implies that every human being possesses the capacity to generate a Wave which is an imprint of the Soul that can be projected outwards. Sigils are the tools that allow Dream Knights to project their Waves. Having said this, every human possesses what we call a Wavelength" Aunt Ai explained.
"A Wavelength?" Ciella wondered.
"It's a unique imprint associated with a person's elemental affinity. It is possible for multiple people to possess the same elemental affinity however they might not necessarily apply their affinities in the same way. For instance, under normal circumstances, Fire can be generated via Friction amongst Solid Objects. However, another person might generate Fire by converging rays of Sunlight. Lightning is usually generated when there is Friction amongst Air Particles but another person might generate it via Light, another via Heat, and another via Water. These variations amongst Element Users sharing a common affinity are what we refer to as Wavelengths. To put it in simple terms, we may all have fingers as humans but our fingerprints differ per individual. We may all have eyes but our retinal patterns differ and things like that. That's the basic idea behind Wavelengths" Aileen I explained.
"I see...so it's like the Range I have which when manifested in my sigil allows Kraken Andromeda to down a large number of adversaries simultaneously and like Keiran's open-mindedness which when manifested allows him to control multiple elements" Concordia realized.
"It's like my understanding of cause and effect which allows me to alter the Waves Of Time surrounding my opponents" Mitsuki realized.
"It's like my desire to avoid the tragedies that befell my predecessors which manifested as a Cape to shield me from Debilitating Environments" I realized.
"Exactly, Waves and Sigils are tied in that Sigils can channel, manifest or amplify a Wave which usually lies dormant within a person. To wield a Sigil is in a sense to wield your Soul" Aileen I explained.
