The older Dream Knights continued to tutor us in the Elemental Balance specifically with regards to Amplifiers and Nullifiers.
"There are two categories of Amplifiers basically. The first category is referred to as a Catalyst. The second category is referred to as a Transformer" Aileen I explained.
"Catalysts and Transformers?" Ciella wondered.
"When a Catalyst is applied to an element, the effects of the element are amplified however, the element fundamentally retains its original form. On the other hand, when a Transformer is applied to an element, the element's form and characteristics are altered leading to the birth of a new element" Aileen I explained.
"Here are a few examples of Transformers. When Friction occurs between two solid objects or two blocks of Earth, Fire is born. When Friction occurs between particles of Air, Lightning is born. When Heat fuses with Water, Vapour is born. When Heat diminishes in Water, Ice is born. When Fire, Light, Wind, Water and Earth are fused in balanced quantities, Wood is born. When Lightning and Earth fuse, Magnetism is born. The fusion of Fire with Earth can refine Earth into Metal" Face explained.
"Whoa!" we exclaimed in awe.
"Here are some examples of Catalysts on the other hand. When Wind is fused with an airtight hollow block of Earth, the hollow block of Earth gains the unique trait of Flotation in contrast to a solid block of Earth. The block of Earth as you may observe does not alter its form but rather gains a new trait. That's basically how Catalysts work. When Heat fuses with Wind and Water, Storms are born mainly due to an amplification in the motion of Wind and Vapour particles. Lightning may also be born as a bi-product so amplification occurs in Wind and Vapour however Transformation occurs with regards to the birth of Lightning. This is a case where a Catalyst also acts as a Transformer. Finally, when one fuses two unique mineral ores in the presence of Fire, alloys are born. Some alloys simply amplify the characteristics of a base mineral. On the other hand, the fusion of some base minerals may result in the birth of an alloy whose characteristics vastly differ from any of the base minerals from which it was made thus Transformation or Amplification can occur when Fire fuses with Earth" Aileen I explained.
"The effects of Amplification and Transformation are not solely limited to elements. They can also to an extent also connote the relationships that exist amongst element users of specific affinities. They can also determine social hierarchy as well. Elements that exert dominance over other elements usually result in either a Mentor-Student Relationship between their element users or a Leader-Follower kind of relationship. When the elements are evenly matched, their element users tend to share bonds either of Comradery or Rivalry. When Amplifiers enter the mix, excellent Team Formations are born resulting in Growth or Transformation of their Element Users. When the elements and their users share a complementary relationship, that is, in the case of Amplifiers, more often than not the relationship is that of Peers and there is great Teamwork amongst its users. When one element however is dominant, that is, in the case of Nullifiers, the social hierarchy tends to be a top-down hierarchy as in the case of Mentors and Students and even when the relationship exists at a Peer Level, it more often than naught tends to be that of Rivalry rather than Comradery" Face explained.
"Fortunately, the order established amongst the elements instead of rigid is rather flexible with each element possessing the capacity to alter form into more advanced variations of itself. These variations possess the capacity to nullify natural limitations so aside from Light whose dominance tends to be absolute, there isn't any element that holds an absolute position of dominance over others" Aileen I explained.
