EPISODE 74: XCALIBUR AOP 2! UNION OF THE WORLDS! THE FOURTH SESSION: THERINGS OF OLYMPUS PART V: THE ARCHER'S AFFINITIES PART III: THE ARCHER'S TERRAINPART I: EARTH
The following day, Concordia came out of her Shelter and noticed three fields. One of the fields was predominantly metallic in appearance. The second was glassy and airtight and within it, fierce winds blew about. The last was a pool made out of a steep sloping irrigation canal with fast moving water.
"Keiran, what are these?" Concordia asked.
"These are special terrains I designed for you to practice Archery. Each has its own special characteristics and is designed to train your ability to apply your affinities to multiple fields of combat" Keiran explained.
"I see. Thanks. I guess I'll get some practice then" Concordia said and approached the metallic field.
Each field had a set of Target Practice Dummies.
"KRAKEN ANDROMEDA! ANDROMEDA MODE!" Concordia called as her bow and quiver materialized.
She removed an arrow from the quiver and pulled it to full length as she took aim. She fired the arrow however, the moment the arrow entered the field, it was weighed to the ground. Concordia narrowed her eyes and observed the phenomenon. She recalled her team's earlier battle against Keiran's team.
"I see...magnetism huh? However, back then, my arrows were not weighed to the ground" Concordia noted, then she recalled that Mitsuki had generated a Gravitational Field around them during the battle.
"I see, Mitsuki nullified the effects of Keiran's magnetic field back then" Concordia said as she walked up to her arrow and pulled it up.
She could feel the pull exerted on her arrow by the magnetic field. She smiled.
"This is quite interesting" she thought to herself.
Keiran sat a distance away watching her.
"The tip of my arrows are made of steel which is susceptible to magnetism. I see, so this is an example of terrain where arrows made of magnetic materials would be at a disadvantage huh? I should probably alter the tip of my arrows to a material not susceptible to magnetism. My steel arrows could be rendered useless in a terrain like this" Concordia realized and focused her mind.
Her arrow's tip was altered from Steel to Silver. She took some steps back and aimed for one of the target dummies. She released her arrow and hit the target flawlessly.
"This is indeed interesting but I'd like to experiment a bit more" Concordia thought as she reverted the tip of the arrow from Silver to Steel.
She took another shot but the arrow was weighed down like before.
"I should probably increase the speed of my shots" Concordia thought and reinforced the strength and elasticity of her bow.
She fired again. Her shot was on target however the magnetic force acting on the tip of her arrow altered its trajectory slightly and her shot struck slightly below target. Concordia walked to her arrow and measured her margin of error.
"It appears the magnetic field is being generated by the panels on the ground. As such, my arrows are being weighed downwards. I suppose I'll have to apply the same amount of force with which I fired my previous shot but this time, I should aim at exactly the distance above target that my previous shot was below target" Concordia thought and fired.
Her aim was flawless and her shot struck the bullseye.
"Now let's try something else" Concordia thought as the rest of her arrow except the tip was transformed into Silver.
The tip remained that of Steel. Concordia strengthened the elasticity of her bow and pulled the arrow to full length.
"The arrow is composed mostly of Silver which is not susceptible to magnetism. This implies that the greatest mass of the arrow is not susceptible to magnetism. That weight should make the magnetic force acting on the tip negligible and it can altogether be cancelled out by amplifying the speed of my shots" Concordia thought and took aim.
When she released her arrow, it tore through the target and flew quite a distance away before crashing to the ground. She smiled in satisfaction.
"To have come this far in only a short while. You really are impressive Concordia. Your next challenges will be quite similar but to be honest, I didn't think you'd challenge the toughest field first" Keiran thought with a laugh.
"I suppose it's about time I moved to another field" Concordia thought and moved to the field of Water.
