EPISODE 66: XCALIBUR AOP 2! UNION OF THE WORLDS! THE THIRD SESSION! THEROOTS OF CIVILIZATION! THE TWELVE NOBLE PROFESSIONS PART X: BRIDGE BUILDINGPART VIII: CARTOGRAPHY VIA ENERGY PART III: WAVES OF SOUND AND SEA

Meanwhile Ariel and Saito had also developed Optical Devices to help them navigate the depths of the Sea. Their major problem was that Water was denser than Air and thus it took a lot more effort for Light Waves to penetrate through so they couldn't see too far ahead of themselves and this was truer the deeper they dived.

"Looks like we're going to have to develop Sonar Devices that operate around the Principle Of Echolocation to be able to get a better grasp of our surroundings" Saito said.

"Any ideas on how to do this?" Ariel asked.

"I'm going to have to resort to stupid second big brother's 'Spider Mode'" Saito said.

"Weaving huh? I see you intend to achieve this by creating a grid work of Webs huh?" Ariel asked.

"You get it little sis. Spiders hunt by creating a grid of Webs. They rest at the centre of the grid where all the Grid Lines intersect and wait. It's almost like Fishing. When the Wind blows against the grid, the entire grid is disturbed and moves in equilibrium however when prey wanders into the grid, only specific Grid Lines are disturbed. The Spider can then follow the vibrations emanating from the Grid Line the prey has disturbed to the source of the disturbance" Saito explained.

"In a sense it's a very devious method of hunting" Ariel said with a weird expression on her face.

"Why do you think I always stop stupid second big bro whenever he attempts to resort to this hunting method? I can't believe I'm actually resorting to it myself" Saito said with a weird expression on her face.

"Like they say, lack fuels creativity right?" Ariel teased.

"Well, as long as we use it only for navigation we'll be fine" Saito said.

"It's at times like this I actually feel a weird sort of admiration for Keiran" Ariel admitted.

"Ain't that right?" Saito said and they laughed.

Saito and Ariel then got to work weaving a grid made of durable but very flexible material which they folded into hollow inflated tubes. These tubes were mostly translucent but had circles of transparent openings about every thirty centimetres along its length. It was crossed with flat durable materials of the same type. The reason for the flatness of the cross grid material was to increase sensitivity by avoiding a completely streamlined design. The flat materials were attached across the breadth of the tube like materials.

Hence the entire Grid Work was made of vertically arranged tubes and horizontal flat tape-like materials attached all around the circumference of tube like material at even lengths that narrowed as they approached the island and widened as they extended outwards. Where the tubes connected to the island, there was a device that generated beams of light and channeled these beams into each of the tubes. Within the tubes were lenses that magnified the beams further and relayed it throughout the total length of the tubes.

The Parameters Saito assigned to the structure included the following; Equilibrium, Distortion Calculators, Light Amplification and Vibration Sensors. The Equilibrium Calculators were for when the Sub Islands were simply cruising through the Ocean and there were no disturbances. When there was no disturbance or obstacle affecting the flow of Ocean Waves, the Waves tended to flow uniformly. In cases like that, the entire Grid Work would be disturbed in a uniform pattern like the Wind that flows through the Web Of A Spider. The Distortion Parameter was for calculating the mass of obstacles in the Ocean. When the Waves Of The Ocean hit an obstacle, the Waves do not flow uniformly but rather flow in an irregular pattern generated by multiple ripples generated by the Wave crashing against the Obstacle. The Mass of the object could then be deduced by calculating the intensity of motion generated by the Waves and sensed by the grid. The smaller the obstacle was, the lesser the disturbance would be. The greater the disturbance was, the larger the object was most likely to be.

Light Amplification was used to amplify the rays of Light flowing into the tubes. When there was a disturbance, the tube like structures would bend and the beam of Light would be cut off. Where it was cut off would be measured to sense the exact position where the Wave that was strong enough to bend the rod like structure to the point of cutting off the beam of Light was flowing from. The Vibration Sensors would then measure all the points where the beam of Light was cut off against one another to generate a graphical representation of the Ocean's Flow and the Pathways Of The Waves.

By measuring this data against direction, since the Grid-Work was set up in an Omnidirectional Fashion, the Bridge Crew could generate a conceptual map that factored in the mass of the obstacle, its density as well as its direction. Thanks to this, Saito, Ariel and their crew could navigate away from the Obstacle.
