The next day, we logged into XCalibur AOP 2 to continue our tutorials on Time with Prince.
"Today, we'll be focusing on a set of unique elements that possess the ability to play two unique roles" Prince said.
"Two unique roles?" I wondered.
"These roles are the roles of Transition and Preservation which are elements of Time" Prince said.
"I see. Transition allows an object to alter its present form. On the other hand, preservation allows an object to sustain its present form" Arlene realized.
"Exactly. Most of the elements that possess the ability to cause either Transition or Preservation more often than naught also tend to be sources of energy" Prince explained.
"Sources Of Energy? How?" Concordia asked.
"I'll begin with Transition. To explain this in a manner you might relate to easily, let's begin with the greatest source of energy in our Solar System, the Sun" Prince said.
We listened closely.
"The Sun is a massive Heat Producing Body and releases a substantial amount of Light Energy. When its Heat hits the Earth's atmosphere, it agitates particles of air causing them to move much more quicker than usual and at the same time, it makes them lighter. Thus the Heat Energy released by the Sun can cause Transition in Pressure either increasing or decreasing it in Scale. The rapid movement of the particles of Air caused by the Heat of the Sun may cause Friction amongst the particles when they make contact with one another and in the process, Electric Energy may be produced via Ionization causing Transitions in Weather and Climate. When the Heat and Light of the Sun reaches the surface of the Earth and not just the atmosphere, it causes germination and growth in any Seeds present in the Soil. Growing Plants absorb Heat Energy from the Soil and Sun, Wind Energy from the Air, Hydro Energy from Water in the Soil as well as Chemical Energy from Soil Nutrients. These are all converted to Chemical Energy. This transition in Energy is what causes growth in Plants. Animals eat the Chemical Energy stored in Plants and convert it into Mechanical and Heat Energy granting them Mobility to work. When the Chemical Energy is processed in the body, it can cause Transitions in the body depending on the nutrient the initial forms of energy were converted to during the Fruiting Process in Plants. You can see from this simple process the countless Transitions born simply from a release of Heat and Light Energy from the Sun. This is basically how Sources Of Energy serve as Catalysts for Transition. They can cause growth in Plants and Animals and can cause changes in Weather and Climate" Prince explained.
"Tell us a bit more about their ability to serve as elements of Preservation. I kinda understand from your explanation on Food Preservation" I said.
"In that case, I'll once again begin my explanation with the Sun. When Light from the Sun hits against any body, a portion of the Light is either absorbed or reflected by the body depending on the brightness or darkness of the body's shade of colour. The portion of absorbed or reflected Light is directly proportional to the size of the body. The rest of the Light flows outside the mass of the body. This generates a 'Shadow' which is an 'imprint' of the body with relation to the direction the Source Of Light can be found. You know that this is how image capture devices such as Cameras work right?" Prince asked.
I nodded.
"The imprint of the body is stored in the Light in the form of masses of Lights and Shadows depending on the brightness and darkness of the materials that compose the body. Think of it like this, Rays of Light flowing about a completely empty space would flow in a straight line with nothing to interrupt the flow of Rays. Due to this, if these Rays of Light were to be captured, their representation would be completely even with regards to displays of brightness and darkness. However, when a body interferes with the flow of Light as in the case of an eclipse for instance, a portion of the Light Rays are either absorbed or reflected by the body. This creates an 'imprint' of the body in the form of a 'Shadow'. Thus when Rays Of Light are captured from behind the body, this Shadow which is an imprint of the body's mass is captured as well. When one can align the colours that form this body's mass to the parts of the body, the form of the body can be reproduced almost accurately. This captured 'imprint' of the body only captures a 'moment' in Time when the captured rays of Light hit against the body hence though people can grow, portraits of them do not. Their growth if captured in portrait can only show various stages in their growth with relation to the particular times the portrait of them was made. It may leave out certain aspects of the growth process depending on the frequency of the portrait's creation as well as the particular times of capture" Prince explained.
"I see, so Image Capture Devices are preservation media for Light Energy, Sound Capture Devices for Sound Energy, Fruits for Chemical Energy and things like that right?" Concordia asked.
"Exactly, preservation media may contain imprints of the Source Of Their Energy as well as the processes that lead to the current preservation media being observed" Prince explained.
