Chapter 2
I haven't gone home nor heard from any of them in the last few weeks. I had been so busy in adjusting that September turned to October. Hogwarts was truly a big castle and with the rumours flying of the unknown darkness was sending goosebumps every day. Zara and Adrian kept my mind off of any weird speculation and I quickly considered them as my best friends. It was quite hard to make some friends here when I'm a late person. People underestimate me but I don't let it get to me because I'm the only one who knows my true self.
In a hustle from the Great Hall, Zara, Adrian, Flint and I with a couple more Slytherin students were walking and talking about the quidditch game happening later. It was my first time to ever watch a quidditch game and not just read them from books. I was very excited since our house was going to play.
"Watch me kick those losers' ass later," Marcus Flint, the captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team, boasted to my right. This was his first game being the captain, and he wasn't nervous at all.
"We're going to play good later, right Flint?" Adrian chimed in from my other side.
"Good?" Flint asked back, raising an eyebrow. "Better. Better than the Gryffindors and their snotty brooms."
I laughed at his comment. "I'm pretty sure you guys can handle a couple of magic balls and men on sticks," I commented.
"Men on sticks?" Zara laughed to Adrian's other side.
"Gryffindors are going down," Flint repeated. He then looked at me with his eyebrows scrunched. "Weren't you talking to Wood before?"
I got startled a bit by his question. I haven't talked nor looked at Wood since we last talked about his addiction to Quidditch. "I...I...ughm," I stuttered. Why was it so hard to lie now? I cleared my throat and answered him with the same confidence he has for winning. "I insulted him. He hasn't bothered me since then."
Adrian smirked. "She said some basic common sense to him," He told Flint.
"And he got mad," Zara completed.
Flint huffed out a breath. "That's Wood. He's the captain so let's see how he balances being a good captain and a bossy one."
"On a scale of 1 to 10, how well do you think we will do?" Adrian asked me.
"Maybe a 9," I guessed with a smile.
"Just a 9?" Flint offendedly asked.
"I'll give you the 1 if you beat Gryffindor," I teasingly smiled.
This caused the both boys to smile and look at each other with knowing faces. "Then that's an extra motivation," Flint smirked.
Terence Higgs, a blond British (maybe Irish) boy excitedly joined us. He was the new seeker for the Slytherin team. He hangs his arm around Zara which received him a smack of her hand on his cheek.
"Stop it," Zara disgustingly said, pushing Terence's arm away from her.
He touched his cheek which had turned red and mumbled, "Ouch."
"Are you ready for later, Higgs?" Adrian asked, fumbling with his coat's pocket. He pulled out a chocolate frog and offered me one. It had quickly become my favourite snack after he slipped one in my coat before.
"Mm, Potter kid's good," Terence nodded.
"But you're going to catch the snitch, right?" Flint doubted.
"Are you serious?" Terence asked back, offended by Flint's tone. "Potter may be a teacher's pet but quidditch is quidditch. I swear, if you're doubting me right now, I'm going to poison your morning drink."
