Chapter 17

Sif wasn't totally on board with the idea of me in Scotland, Earth 71 for a whole week. She complained about me missing trainings and then the Christmas town celebration. Valkyrie on the other hand loved the idea of me going out and about like my father. Dad hasn't come home in the last year so spending it with Oliver would hopefully clear my mind about that.

"You drive a car?!" I exclaimed when a red coloured car pulled over at the side of the Kings Cross Station.

Oliver looked over from the driver's seat, "I've always had. Come on, get in! Mum's excited to see you."

I hurriedly scramble to the passenger seat, throwing my duffle bag at the back seat. I close the car door and strap myself in. As soon as possible, he drove away. He was going quite fast for an early morning drive.

"You're pretty excited too, huh?" I said, looking out the window.

"You could say that. Are you nervous?"

"Extremely," I said honestly. "I'm meeting your parents. Your whole family, even."

He laughed. "Don't worry, they're lovely people. Well, some of them. The kids are a handful but are great."

"Kids... yey," I said sarcastically. "How many are there? I'm not sure if I bought enough gifts for the kids."

He looked over at me with a shocked expression. "You didn't have to get them gifts."

"I'm getting your parents and aunts and uncles presents. The kids will be jealous so obviously I had to get them gifts. How many are there?"

"Just 6 kids. There's Jack, Eve, Mellow, Harold, Louis, and Cinn. Cinn's my sister's newborn baby so she's no trouble except when she's hungry. She's very loud."

"I think I have something for that," I said, relieved. I bought a pacifier set and blankets after Oliver mentioned his sister last month. "The other 5 are what? Toddlers?"

"4 to 10 years old."

"Okay, okay, I bought something for that."

He reached out to hold my hand, squeezing it but kept his eyes on the road before us. "Stop worrying. They're going to love you. You're not even there yet and my mum already loves you."

I smiled, rolling my eyes. "You better not have oversold me to your mum. I would hate to disappoint her."

"You won't," He proudly said. "Now, things are going to get rough from here on the road. Hold on tight."

"What do you-."

Before I could finish, we drifted off the road. I started screaming at Oliver as he wasn't slowing down anytime. He laughed wickedly when he pulled at the wheel upwards and I felt my soul leave my body. Not until I had realised what was happening.

"We're flying?" I asked, looking eagerly outside the windows that showed the blue sky. I repeated, "We're flying!"

"Yes, we are!"

The Wood family lived in Neilston, Scotland. It was just outside Glasgow where there were big and open green fields during the summer and spring but completely covered in white during the winter season. There was a small town in the middle however, the other houses were far and wide the area. One of the far houses belonged to the Wood's.

As the car descended on a wobbly cleared out gravel road, I felt a pure shock of relief from flying that long in the air. I think I preferred Oliver on the broom than in the car even if we were exposed. He turned left on the road and I saw the house we were heading to. It was something I had expected. It was a middle-sized farm house although there weren't any pastures around nor a barn.
