Chapter 10
"He's hot. Definitely hot."
"Gosh, I'd play quidditch just to be screamed at by him."
"Maybe we should try out."
Zara and I looked at each other, disgusted by what we just heard from a couple of girls under our year. We were walking by the halls beside the quadrangle where a couple of quidditch players were having their morning training. And they were surely talking about Oliver and it's making me jealous.
"They're absolutely terrible," was the first thing I said to Zara when we were out of their ear reach.
"Absolutely," She agreed.
"I mean, go and hit up on someone you can actually get. Stop going for those out of your league." I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms in front of me. We stepped on the grass and headed for the tree that we love to sit under.
Zara giggled. "You're jealous of some 4th years talking about Wood. That's some character development there Ali."
I rolled my eyes and sat under the tree and she did too. "Whatever," I mumbled. "He can get anyone he wants."
We worked on our individual task for Charms. I wrote down simple notes then the complicated ones. I loved working outside, inhaling the clean air and not feeling cramped and secluded. Although it was hard to concentrate when balls were flying everywhere, laughter filled the air and Oliver's voice was booming around the quadrangle.
"Fred! George! Hit it at the right angle," Oliver shouted.
Personally, I think it's too early to shout that loud and ring everybody's ear. I've caught myself having a glance at him way too many times but I know he hasn't figured out I was there. On the other side of the quad was the Slytherin team practicing with Malfoy. Terence was made as the other chaser and worked with Adrian.
I watched them pass the ball to each other in a quick swift motion as one of their other teammates acted as if they were the opposing team. Then they worked well as defenders as well, being able to grab the ball and bring it to the other side.
"They're good," Zara mumbled to me.
"I know," I smiled as Adrian took a winning goal to their makeshift goal. "Maybe they can win after all."
Flint put pressure on Terence and Adrian as the new defenders and opposers. He did what I told him to do and now, their play rhythm seemed more organised and compact.
"One more! The game is tomorrow. C'mon team!" Oliver this time shouted from across the quadrangle.
He was on the ground, holding onto his broom, as his teammates were flying around in a circle, passing the quaffle around in a quick motion. His eyebrows were knotted and it made him look hotter. I have to agree with that fourth year. He does look good as the dominant side in him arises.
I took my time watching him. He never once looked at me. I wasn't complaining because I was enjoying the view. Every time he clutched his broom in frustration, every time he shouted with his voice rough and itching in his throat, and every time he would glare but then smile at how well his plan is working.
Zara nudged me, making me look away from Oliver. "You're going to fail charms if you don't study," She teased. "You might pass if Wood's the test."
"Shut up," I hissed in annoyance but my cheeks were turning red.
Zara laughed out loud, catching the attention of some. I hit her knee to be quiet which made her slap her mouth to keep her quiet. That made me giggle and I looked back to where Oliver was. This time, he had looked towards our way and looked into my soul.
