His POV

"Engr. Caballes! Finally, you answer the phone!" Laina on the other line shouted.

Kaagad ko tuloy na inilayo ang cellphone ko sa tainga ko dahil sa ingay niya. She never changed, she's still loud as ever.

"What's up?" I said while I lossen up my necktie.

Katatapos pa lang ng conference namin dito at pagod na pagod rin ako dahil madami rin akong inaasikasong nga papeles. I'm managing an orphanage now as what I promised to myself that I'm going to help poor people when I'm successful and when I have enough money to help them.

"Are you free on the date I sent you last time? The reunion?" she reminded me.

Halos makalimutan ko na ang reunion namin dahil sa daming ginagawa ko. I keep myself busy to stop and engage myself into the things that make other people happy. Pinagawa ko ang orphanage na ngayon ay nakapangalan sa akin at paminsan-minsan na lang ako doon nakakabisita.

It's good to see the smile of the children with a genuine happiness. Iyong tipong bigyan mo sila ng isang simpleng bagay ay labis na ang tuwa nila.

I hope... I hope I can go back to time where I'm still happy and a kid.

"I don't know, kakabalik ko pa lang niyan sa Pilipinas," sabi ko at inilagay sa hunger ang aking coat. "And one more thing, Laina, you can enjoy the reunion even without me," I conviced her.

I'm not really sure if I can still make it on that day. Baka nga ay makalimutan ko na naman ang tungkol sa reunion na 'yan.

"Well, sa tingin ko ay pupunta ka kapag sinabi ko sa'yo ito," sambit niya sa kabilang linya at kung nakikita ko lang siya ngayon ay paniguradong may mapaglarong ngiti na naman siya.

"Just say it, mahal ang oras ko." sabi ko sa kaniya kaya tumawa lang siya sa kabilang linya. "Look, Laina, I'm busy person and you know that. I have so many thin---"

"Engr. Levantino is also going on our reunion," she cut my word.

"Sino naman 'yang Engr. Levantino, Laina? I'm bot even interested of what you' re talking about, stop it." I warned her.

"I see, you forgot about her because she changed her username. Nakabalik na ng Pilipinas si Chinlie Jane Caba... I mean Chinlie Jane Levantino," she uttered.

"Her surname doesn't suit her," I whispered.

"Yes, mas bagay nga kasi talaga ang Caballes sa kaniya, eh." wika niya sa kabilang linya kaya nagulat ako.

D*mn. She heard what I said! Mabuti na lang at hindi niya binigyan ng malisya ang sinabi kong hindi bagay kay Chinlie Jane ang bago niyang apelyido. I'm still not used calling her in her new surname.
