*Y/N's POV*

My heart was nearly beating out of my chest, the Forbidden Forest never seemed so dark and terrifying. I'd gotten my fair share of detentions out there, a sort of causality of being best friends with George for pretty much my entire time at Hogwarts, adding Fred into the mix certainly didn't improve my behavior. I don't think a month ever went by where we weren't sentenced to detention. But we never minded, as long as the three of us were together, detention just seemed like more time for us to be around each other without having to do any school work.

"Y/N, you're not seriously doing the assignment are you?" George pestered.

I knelt to the ground, "Professor McGonagall said we are to catalog at least twenty species of plants before the night is over. So, in order to avoid another detention, yes I am doing the assignment."

Fred chuckled, leaning against one of the trees, "You've got to loosen up, Lestrange."

"Getting me to loosen up is exactly why we're in detention, Weasley," I quipped back.

"Well, how were we supposed to know the dye pack would stain Mrs. Norris permanently?" George laughed.

"Maybe because the packaging had big red letters that said BEWARE: DYE IS PERMANENT," I rolled my eyes.

"Didn't stop you from throwing it at her, did it?" Fred smirked.

I finished cataloging the plant, standing up and giving Fred's shoulder a shove, "I meant to get it into Filch's mop bucket, dye the water purple, not his bloody cat."

Fred caught my hand on his shoulder, "We've got to work on your aim, Lestrange," he smirked down at me.

"Says the current second-best Gryffindor Beater," I smirked, pulling my hand from him.

George shrugged, giggling, "She's got you there, mate."

"You don't even play Quidditch!" Fred fussed, "So, how would you know?"

"We all know Y/N isn't one for competition, especially with that temper," George winked.

"Piss off," I chuckled, rolling my eyes, "Or I'll hex you."

"Careful the dementors don't hear you making those threats," Fred added, "Now, let's get back to the castle before those soul suckers find us."

We all laughed as we raced back to the castle, none of us actually finishing our punishment assignment and getting another Friday night detention.

"Y/N?" Draco's voice called me from my thoughts.

I cleared my throat, "What is it?"

"They've got a pretty strong barrier around the castle, the others have been trying to get it to break down," Draco explained, "Father says the Dark Lord seems to be growing impatient."

"I suppose he'll try and bring it down himself sooner or later," I answered as we stood at the back of the crowd of Death Eaters.

As if my comment had become a command, the Dark Lord let out an ear-splitting yell, a streak of light bursting from the tip of the Elder Wand. The Death Eaters all lowered their wands as he made easy work of the protective barrier. They all cheered as it seemed to fall apart just like burnt pieces of parchment.

My aunt turned to us, pulling us over to the edge of the crowd, "It's time," she sighed, looking as the crowd began to disapparate, "Be safe and look out for one another, got it?" she placed her hands on each of our cheeks, "I love you both, very much."
