Chapter 20: Close

2nd/3rd P.O.V

"Sora?"

The girl with the long brown hair and deep brown eyes looked at you. Her look was softer than normal, and gave you a very weak smile.

"Y/n, your back!" Momo jumped up, and hugged you. You hugged her back, but your eyes couldnt be taken off of Sora.

"Welcome back, Y/n." Kyoka smiled, still braiding Sora's hair.

"Thank you. I missed you all." You smiled, even though something didnt sit right with you. Deep down, your stomach was turning.

"How was it with Keigo?" Momo asked.

"I'll talk about it over dinner. It was very.. Interesting." You chuckled. "But no matter, we worked it out."

"Did something happen?" Kyoka asked.

"Did he hurt your feelings?" Sora asked.

"No no... Well-"

"What do you mean, 'well'?" Momo raised an eyebrow.

"Like I said, I'll explain over dinner."

You walked over to your bed, and sat next to Sora. You wanted to ask the question; you wanted to badly. But, deep down, you already knew the answer.

You looked down at her, while she looked up at you. Again, her deep brown eyes looked soft; too soft. She appeared to be a bit taller than last time. And more quiet.

You reached for her hand, and held it. "How are you, Sora?" You asked. You already knew the answer.

Her eyes filled with tears.

That was the confirmation.

You brought her into a tight hug, as she cried into you. Kyoka's face softened, as Momo looked down at her feet.

"Her mother died the second day you were gone." Momo explained.

"The funeral is in two days." Kyoka followed up.

The second day you were gone.

That day was eventful.

You met Rumi. You learned Keigo was lying to you. And his kingdom was at war. And you saved those two kids.

"And no one thought to tell me this?" You said firmly, your face somewhat angry ad you looked up at them.

"We didnt want to disturb you." Momo said quietly.

Sora was still crying her eyes out. She was gasping for air.

"Breathe, hun, breathe." You said softly, petting her hair. She tried; she really did, but she was hurting.

"We thought that we would let you stay with Keigo. If we told you, you would come rushing back." Momo said. "And we didnt want that. We wanted you to enjoy yourself."

Enjoy yourself. You did towards the end.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't here, Sora." You started to tear up yourself. "I'm so, so sorry."

She started to cry more.

You started to cry.

Momo and Kyoka... Watched.

After about eight minutes, she had calmed down. She was still breathing irregularly, but she wasn't crying anymore. She pulled away from you and wiped away her tears.

"Did you have fun?" She asked, trying to move away from her mom. You laughed, tears still in your eyes.

"I did towards the end."
