Stasiaj Yahontov had grown up like most of the sewer rats in Ketterdam, fighting and clawing for her life, and trying her best to avoid being sold to a brothel or be picked off the streets by some creep. But, what they don't tell you as a kid, much less a street rat, is that even if you do claw your way out of those ranks and somehow survive until you reach your teenage years, you are never free of the barbed grips of Ketterdam.
To most, the daunting prospect of somehow living and surviving in a godforsaken place such as that made them lose their minds, or submit to others above them, but Stasiaj would not allow herself to fall to such levels.
She vowed to never submit to any man, and kept that promise with a silver tongue and quick hands, slithering through the Underworld and up the ladder until she curled around the very top, keeping all beneath her with words and careful threats.
For no one would displace the Snake of Ketterdam from her spot.
