Clementine had slept through the night, but that didn't stop the nightmares. Last night had consisted of something rather strange. She was in a room surrounded by mirrors, and any time she looked in one, she saw someone else in her reflection.
It didn't scare her like the birds and the hands in the garden did, but it definitely unnerved her.
Jessie and Bea woke up not too much later than Clementine had. The two younger girls had insisted that Bea tell them what she had found out.
The three of them left the cellar so as not to wake up the boys, heading out into the street. Billy and Spike were already awake and outside, leaving only Leo in the cellar. They took a seat at their usual steps, joined only by Spike since Bea had already told Billy when she'd gotten back last night, and the boy was already talking to someone. The four began discussing quietly amongst themselves.
"His name was Mycroft Holmes, and he said he had been trying to get in touch with us through Watson for a while now," Bea started.
"What for?" Jessie asked her sister.
"Someone was murdered. He wants us to look into it for him. Something to do with tarot cards."
Clementine bit back a sigh. Things just kept getting stranger and stranger. London wasn't what it used to be, and she wasn't sure whether it would be again.
Keeping this in mind, she nodded, "When do we leave?"
A smile flashed across Bea's face. "As soon as possible. Going here means finding out about the Golden Dawn, which means finding out more about Watson."
"We're really going on another investigation? Bea, you were washing blood off of yourself just yesterday. And Clem, I literally had to bandage your arm and hand last night," Spike pointed out, disbelief in his voice.
"We have to do this, Spike," Bea told the boy.
Spike shook his head, grumbling words of annoyance to himself. He was just trying to keep everyone safe.
"Look who's up," Jessie said quietly.
The four looked across the street to see that Leo had emerged from the cellar. Clementine noticed Billy approaching him, and only hoped that the two might get along today.
"Sticking around, then, are ya?" Billy asked as he approached the boy.
Leo's jaw clenched, his eyes flitting from the girl sitting across the street and then back to the boy approaching him. "What do you want, Billy?"
Clementine, Bea, Spike and Jessie watched from across the street. None of them could hear what was being said between the boys, but they could all see how stiff Billy's shoulders were - even from afar.
