Clementine woke up that next morning in Leo's arms

Clementine woke up that next morning in Leo's arms. She could hear him breathing softly as her head lay on his bare chest.

"Did you have any nightmares last night?" Leo asked in a quiet voice as he ran his fingers through the girl's hair.

Clementine shook her head, smiling gently as she looked up at him. "None."

"Do you think it's a coincidence?" He questioned, a sly smile on his face.

"What? You think you protected me from the nightmares?" the girl laughed softly.

Leo shrugged, "I mean, we can't ignore the possibility. Maybe we just need to test the theory again tonight."

Clementine's mouth fell open as she looked at him. "Leo!" she gasped.

The boy laughed as he leaned down and kissed the girl. Any shock she had been experiencing melted away as her eyes fluttered shut. She reached up around his neck, smiling against his lips.

Leo pulled back for a moment, running his thumb along Clementine's bottom lip. "Sometimes, I wake up, and there's a split second, a small moment, where I forget that this is real. That you're real."

Clementine reached for the boy's hand that wasn't touching her and intertwined their fingers. "You really have a way with words. Did you know that?"

She laid her head back down on his chest, staring down at her and Leo's hands. The boy put his arm back around the girl, running his fingers up and down her arm just below the shoulder cuff of her nightgown.

"So, you don't have any regrets about last night, then?" Leo asked. The question had been weighing on him since he had woken up about ten minutes before he saw Clementine open her eyes. It had been the most anxiety-inducing ten minutes of his life.

Clementine had been worried that after what they had done last night, things may have been awkward. But it was anything but.

The girl shook her head, "No, I don't. Do you."

"Definitely not," he smiled back.

Bea approached the two moments later, clearing her throat quietly. "Sorry to interrupt. Clem, I was hoping to get some help on something?"

"Yeah, yeah, of course, Bea. Just give me a moment to get changed," Clementine answered as she sat up in Leo's bed.

Bea looked between Clementine and Leo, pursing her lips as she nodded her head, before walking away. She wouldn't admit it, but part of her was jealous of the relationship Clementine and Leo had found.

She knew the way she felt about a certain boy, but part of her was too afraid to admit it. Unlike her friend, she wasn't as trusting of people. And letting people in, no matter how long she'd known them, wasn't as easy for her.
