Please go read In Another World and like their work. I like the idea and teaser. Highly recommend it. Now then onto the story!

Leonardo's hands went still against his guitar. His fingers weren't relaxing, they were tense. What he thought would be a confession of sorts was actually a deeper secret. ".....What?"

"I'm a yokai, Leonardo."

"....but yokai are-" he starts to piece things together but even then it's not enough. "Your probably a mutant (Y/n), not a yokai. Sensei says Yokai are from myths just folklore to tell villagers."

"Every story is based on a fact. You've already seen my eyes change and the markings on my face. My clan has been keeping that secret from me and others outside it." You stand up in front of him and close your eyes. He only watches closely for any changes. But nothing changed. 'Cmon change!' you hold your breath, trying to get it to work. You open your eyes. "Are my eyes red?"

"No, but you look constipated."

"Leo! This is serious."

He chuckles. "I was only joking." He stands up. "The only times' I'v seen your eyes turn red is when your fighting or protecting one of us."

"hmm. So I can't activate it of my own free will but it comes out when I'm not fully in control of it. That's dangerous."

"Let's try something." he suggested, putting down his guitar and grabbing your hand. He took you to the dojo where he grabs his Katanas and your Nichirn, then throws it at you. "Actions speak louder than words so show me your demons."

"Is that a challenge?" You muse. But you were worried, if it went too far it could be a risk.

Leo noticed your hesitation and went to the middle of the dojo. "I trust you." he says with a comforting smile. It gave you encouragement and that was all you needed to discard your top layer of clothing to make your mobility better. Your arms were revealed to him. He hadn't seen your scars in a while but they were stunning, well everything abut you drew him in.

The pattern of lightning bolts trailing down to your wrists and when you make a quick practice kata he saw the profound scar on your back for the first time. You caught his staring, it wasn't one of disgust or weirdness or even shock, rather, it was one of curiosity, awareness, appreciation, and respect. The scars on your body told a story, a story of strength.

The textures of the scars were like writings of the past on how far you've come since the day you met him. It unburied past feelings of guilt but with that guilt was utter happiness. Despite all that he made fond memories with you over the adventures you faced with him. He couldn't be happier that his feelings were only for you. "And to make the stakes higher we'll place a bet."
