I woke up and went to my morning walk with Shadow. Sitting down under the leaves of a big tree, I looked at the book Kenzi suggested for me to read a year or so ago. Shadow came and curled next to me. I pet her as I read the book. It is about a homeless girl who one day meets a boy. The boy takes her to a new place where everyone is really rich. Then a flood comes and the girl and boy have to stop it. Tears form in my eyes. This is getting worse than when Kenzi was first adopted.
"Luna?" a voice asked
"Yeah?" I say, wiping my eyes
I saw a silhouette of Kai and... Mark?
"Camila wants us for lunch," Kai says
"I'll be there in a sec," I say
"I will stay with Luna," Mark decides
Kai just smirks and leaves.
"Still thinking of Kenzi?" He asked
I nod
"Hey, remember Nathan? He moved away to China. I used to be able to see him each summer. Then, two months ago, he got cancer. I got to visit him with my parents since Nathan's parents are good friends with mine. The week after... he died," Mark said that in a whisper then cleared his throat and continued, "I went to his funeral. I know that he is gone now, but he is still connected to me. You and Kenzi have an amazing bond and I am sure you guys are still connected, just like Nathan and I"
"Thanks, Mark and... I am sorry about Nathan. I would've loved to meet him," I say, hugging him.
"Let's go get breakfast," I say
He nods. We had a breakfast sandwich with a fruit smoothie. I know Mark is right, but what if we don't have a connection? I hope we do...
