Being a teenager is hard, its a ride full of ups and downs, just like a roller coaster. Its never easy to be a teenager, a tender stage of development in one's life. Where we are burdened with expectations, by ourselves or by parents, peers, school, or teachers.

Sometimes even as adults who have passed through this feeling, we tend to forget it.

This poem describes the life of a teenager.

But I do feel, that this describes all of us, maybe the beginning of this was teenage.

Sometimes I want to speak
But get silenced by others
Sometimes I want to scream
But the voice inside tells me No

Sometimes I want to cry
But the mind says "stay strong"
Sometimes I want to smile
But the heart couldn't be strong

Sometimes I want to run
But the mind establish its rule
Sometimes I want to ignore
But the heart starts to speak itself

Sometimes all this come together
And the body inside fights to decide
When this happen you're frozen
You won't be able to express yourself

The world then looks like a blank paper
The body is where the scribbling is done
Nothing makes sense
Yet everything does makes sense

This is how it feels to be us
This is how it feels, to be underestimated
This is how it feels, to be burdened with expectation
This is how it feels, to see their disappointment

This is how you feel when you don't understand
What needs to be understood by you
This is how it feels when you're told you're kids
And then minutes later you become adults

You try to succeed and when you do
The happiness stays for a day
Then comes the same old
Same old criticism anyway

To be compared with friends
To try to become like them
Or to fail to be one of them
The pain of ignorance

Time changes with friends
You'll be surprise to see
That they changed with time
Whereas you remain the same

The pain of ignorance
The pain of disappointment
The burden of expectations
The fear of failure

To be us is like to be stuck
In the maze with no way out
To decide what is truth and what is not
To decide what to be afraid of and what not

To be us is like the hardest thing of life
Yet you have to be us
Cause we are you and you are us
Cause you have to grow to accept the truth

Sometimes we live in lies
And want to discover the truth
But sometimes discovering the truth
Makes us want to live in lies

Life is the hardest mystery
Yet we try to solve it
Yet we try to fit in
Sometimes trying makes you
feel like crying

This is all what you feel to be us
This is what is life from our eyes
This is what we live like
This is how you feel when you're teenagers
