"The gun dealers are two bikers out of Indiana. Buyers are gangbangers associated with Southside Hawks. We don't have any names yet." Hank's muffled voice, due to his mask, informs most of the team who's huddled together outside a location of a drug bust they're trying to catch in action. "Uh, deal's going down inside the old seminary." Al chimes in, looking at each member who's standing right in front of Hank's vehicle where they have a blueprint laid out on the hood. "It's been abandoned for five years. Two adjacent buildings are abandoned as well. Once we're inside, Al and I are gonna enter from the west. Ruzek, you and Atwater going in here. Halstead, you go this way." Voight explains as he shows the boys where on the blueprint he wants them to be in real life. "Sarge, we have got movement on the west side." Danielle's voice softly comes in through Hank's radio that's holding down one corner of the blueprint. He picks it up, putting the volume louder so everyone else can hear. "One male, white. One male, Hispanic. Both 5'10" to 6', about 170 pounds, tatted up, carrying large duffle bags. They just got out of a black SUV with..." She says, looking over at Antonio who's sitting in the driver's seat of their Unit car, watching him use small binoculars to see the plates, "Indiana." Antonio whispers. "With Indiana tags." Danielle informs their boss. "Copy that." Hank confirms. "Here we go." Hank tells Al and the boys while Dawson and Rodriguez lay low in their vehicle to keep an eye on the outside of the building. They watch the others make their way inside after quietly parking out front. Al leads the small group, he and Voight departing into the west while Atwater and Ruzek depart from Jay who enters a hallway that has one room, its door closed. As he's about to open it, a gunshot makes him pull away and duck, seeing a large hole has been made in the middle of the door. "10-1, 10-1. Shots fired at the police. 4533 West Archer." Jay's voice informs squad and the team through his radio. Straightening up, he looks through the huge hole in the door, seeing four black men fimebling to reload their guns so Halstead takes advantage and opens the door, entering the room that is littered with rows and rows of tables which have different kinds of guns laid out on display. "Police!" He announces his entrance, the men looking at him, and as Jay shouts to stay put, all guys hurriedly crawl out the already opened window they're standing next to, quickly climbing down the side ladder, Jay in pursuit with his gun drawn. The veteran follows them into one of the abandoned adjacent buildings, one of the men about to shoot at Halstead, but Adam and Kevin come from a different direction, shooting him dead while the others escape, Jay still running after them. "C.P.D.! Drop your weapons!" Jay shouts, the men making their way to some rundown apartments, making a mess of some people's things as a family sits out on their porch, fearfully watching what's happening. The family quickly ducks down behind their parked cars, trying to not get hit with the bullets that are flying from Jay's and the offenders' guns. Jay is able to shoot one man's arm, causing him to hold it as he grunts in pain, somehow still managing to jump over a fence like his buddy. Halstead sees a woman from the family lying on her stomach, blood coating the back of her jacket, but she's alive, though he isn't sure if her family member made it, seeing the unmoving man lying beside her. "5021 George, I'm taking heavy fire. I've got two civilians down in the north alley way behind the building." Jay speaks into his radio, Hank following his voice as he walks through the inside of the building, spotting Halstead through a window. "This is Sargent Hank Voight. Advise responding to shut down a two-block radius." "Copy that. We'll set up a two-block radius." "We have multiple armed offenders." Kevin's voice comes in through the radio, he and Adam having three more men in custody, all heavily armed. "Approach with extreme caution." Hank orders squad. "Help! Help!" A woman wails, catching Halstead's ear. He hurriedly leaves his hiding position, Hank taking a few steps to be at another window while watching as Jay rushes into one of the apartments. Inside, Danielle is tending to a little girl who's bleeding, Antonio trying to calm the woman and other children who're crying. "What happened?" Jay asks Danielle who keeps pressure applied to the wound. "We rounded the corner in the car because we saw one man running, but Kev and Adam go to him, then we heard crying." She explains, elevating the child's head slightly. Now taking a good look around the room, the three detectives realize they're in a homemade daycare. "Get these kids out to the west wing exit now. Now!" Jay tells the woman who gathers the other children, Antonio walking and covering them as he leads them out. "Alright, I'm gonna call an ambulance." Jay tells Danielle who's frantically shaking her head. "We don't have time! Get the car and bring it around. I'm gonna meet you out front." She tells him, Jay leaving in a hurry as Danielle picks up the little girl as steadily as possible, carefully walking outside with the limp tender aged child in her arms.
The sniper stands near the receptionist desk with Jay, waiting for word of the little girl who was admitted 10 minutes ago. He looks over at her, seeing his old partner with her eyes fixed on nothing in particular, a dazed expression covering her features, a smear of dried blood near the left side of her forehead, shirt sleeves, and most of the hem covered in now dried blood. Will comes walking towards them, using some hand sanitizer while he speaks, "She's in bad shape. But we're doing everything we can." They walk with him as he goes to a nurse who's waiting for Will to sign some papers in a folder. "What are the odds?" Danielle asks softly, causing him to look at her. "Like I said, we're doing everything we can." Will answers, quickly signing the documents. "We know. What about the other two victims? Are they okay?" Jay asks his brother. "Walk with me." The ginger haired Halstead sibling tells both detectives who follow him again. "James Pell, the bullet grazed his leg. He's fine; we're just finishing up some paperwork." "Hey, what about the other victim?" Jay asks Will. "She didn't make it. Dead on arrival." "I gotta sign the papers or can I go now?" James Pell irritatedly asks Will as the man sits at the foot of the hospital bed, already having been treated for him wound. "Just sit tight." Will answers, letting Danielle and Jay in the room. "Mr. Pell, we'd like to talk to you about what happened." Rodriguez speaks up, her and her old partner looking at him. "I got shot in the leg, that's what happened." James tells her. "Did you see the men who shot you?" Jay asks. "No." "Not even a quick glimpse?" Danielle asks. "Look, officer, I was just involved in a traumatic incident. I'm still in a state of shock. So, please, no more questions." Jason says, looking at both of them, seeming tired and obviously just wanting to not be stuck in the hospital. "Alright. We'll get your contact information. Call you later on." Danielle tells him, the man giving her a small nod, watching the two leave.
"Okay, we have three gunshot victims: female, black, 20s, dead on arrival. Male, black, mid-20s, named James Pell, treated and released. The bullet just grazed his leg." Danielle tells Hank as she reads the information from a sheet she's typed up, walking with him into the bullpen coming from the locker room since she changed her shirt before going to look for her boss. "Huh." Hank hums, stopping in his tracks which makes her stop as she continues, "And a little girl around 8. She's in critical condition." "Alright, the guy who hot nicked, we talk to him?" "I tried. He wasn't too cooperative. He claims he's still in shock." "And what are those kids doing there in the first place?" "It turns out the building was used as an off-the-books daycare center. For $10 bucks a day, someone in the neighborhood will watch your kid." "Boss, two bikers killed at the scene. One was Anthony Jonas, 24. Other Mike Scola, 26. Both from Gary, Indiana." Adam says as he and Kevin look at Atwater's computer screen. "And they're both affiliated with the Gargoyle Kings. That's the biker gang your C.I. told us about." Kevin adds, he and Adam looking at their boss. "Alright, hit the streets. Talk to your C.I.s. Let's find these shooters." Voight orders them both. "Hank, got a sec?" Chief Lugo's voice asks as the man himself makes his way over towards the Sargent, Kevin, Mouse, Adam, and Danielle quietly watching. "Yeah." Hank answers, walking into his office, the Chief behind him. "Your team's all over the news." Lugo says, the tech wiz and sniper watching Adam and Kevin leave while she goes and sits at her desk, Olinsky quietly making his way into the office now that he and Antonio are back from having been trying to find witnesses. "You're talking about the thing this morning?" Hank asks, checking his watch to see it's almost noon. "Three innocents hit, one dead?" Lugo asks. "We're taking down a gun deal. The suspects opened fire." "The independent auditor will be reviewing this incident." "Independent auditor?" "Part of the new reform package." Lugo answers very softly, almost seeming like he's afraid to. Footsteps make Danielle look away from her computer screen, watching none other than Denny Woods, dressed in full uniform, walking up to Hank's office doorway, knocking on it and walking in with a huge grin like the Cheshire cat. "Nice to see you, Hank." Denny says smugly, those present clearly not expecting this. "Denny." Voight says, almost mean mugging the man who used to be his boss. "Mayor just made it official. Denny's the independent auditor." Lugo explains as Woods sits on the arm of the two-person couch. "You wanna give us a couple of minutes to catch up?" Woods asks Lugo. "Sure." He answers reluctantly. "Thank you, Chief." Hank says, watching Lugo leave the office to stand near the stairs. "Well, they looked into my files, and realized I'm a good cop. And the only case in question....the Ruffalo thing....it just went away." Denny says. "Mhmm." Hank says, knowing Denny has lots of people who owe him favors. "And now they've got me overseeing the whole Chicago P.D. Independent auditor. Makes me sound like somewhat of a, uh....an accountant. More like a judge." The Sargent just stands there with his hands in their homes of his pant pockets. "Hank, I just want to say that, uh, the past...is the past." "Hmm." "And all that nonsense that happened between us..." Denny says, extending his right hand, Hank looking at it before slowly shaking it. "It's over." Denny says, both men holding tense eye contact even though they've just accepted to start anew. "That's good to know." Voight says as they let go. "Be seeing you, Hank." Woods says, turning and leaving the office, making eye contact with Danielle. He stops in front of her desk for a moment, the sniper not bothering to stand at ease for him, feeling like something is off about the man as he gives her a smirk like last week, continuing to leave the office. Just as Al, Antonio, and Danielle are about to softly talk to their boss, they see Trudy walk upstairs with a guy behind her, holding a small ladder. Hank sees the desk Sargent and the guy as well, so he walks out of his office and over to them. "Hey, what's going on? Who is this?" Hank asks Trudy, both she and the maintenance man stopping before entering the hallway. "He's here to install cameras in the interrogation room. Direct order from the super independent." Trudy answers after Hank gives the guy a disapproving look. "Yeah, after his new independent auditor gave him the idea." Voight concludes. "Well, whoever it was, they want it done today. First hall to your left." Platt tells Hank then the maintenance man who walks to where she's pointing. "If I wasn't so doe-eyed and optimistic, I'd say we have a trust issue on our hands." She tells Voight nods slightly. "Hmm." He hums a bit sarcastically. "Anyway, I've got 20 officers on the ground in the vicinity looking for the two shooters. I'll let you know when I hear something." Trudy changes the subject. "Thanks." "Sure." With that, Hank orders Al and Danielle to the scene, Antonio having slipped away to meet a C.I.
