She quietly makes him breakfast which consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, and a cup of decaf coffee. She can't help but feel like some good progress was made between them last night as they both let loose in their conversation before dinner, even if it was just slightly.
"You didn't have to do this."
Hank's voice startles her as she sets down his plate at the dining table, everything else already set presentably.
"Nothing helps a person feel better than a good breakfast." Danielle tells him with a small smile.
He sits at the head of the table, looking over his plate.
"How'd you know I like decaf?" He asks as he picks up the mug with his good hand.
"You struck me as that kind of person." She answers with a shrug, sitting on a chair to his right.
"This is really good, thank you." He says after taking the first few bites.
"You're welcome." She says softly, playing with the cuffs of her hoodie sleeves.
"You aren't going to eat?" He asks her, noticing she doesn't have a plate of food in front of her.
"I don't tend to eat breakfast." She answers.
"You should." He says before he sips his coffee again.
Sensing that he isn't going to let them leave without her eating, she nods as she gets up and serves herself a plate of the food that's left. She returns to sit down and starts eating, thankful she is doing so after all. As soon as they're done, he moves to grab his plate with his right hand, but doesn't get far as his weak arm fails him and his plate almost falls. She quickly catches it so it doesn't clatter to the table.
"Are you okay?" She asks, pointing to his arm, ready to aid him.
"I can't bend it too well." Hank answers, not looking at her.
"Hopefully they'll give you some painkillers today." She says as she hurriedly takes the dishes to the sink to quickly wash them.
"It's 7:30. I don't think I can drive comfortably. You ready to go?" Hank asks her, the teen nodding.
"Yeah. I'll drive." She answers.
After he locks up, he hands her the car keys. It doesn't take long for them to get situated in the vehicle, the teen carefully backing the SUV out of the driveway. She drives carefully, being that she's under the secret supervision of her boss and because the vehicle isn't hers. A buzzing sound fills the car as Hank carefully fishes his phone out of his pants pocket.
"Hello?" He answers.
"Hey, I just sent you a text." Al's voice speaks.
Looking at his screen, Hank finds a message popping up, so he clicks on it.
Alvin: Her birthday is coming up
"Is that right?" Hank casually asks into his phone.
"Yeah. I just found out because Trudy accidentally mentioned it."
The two become quiet, and Danielle is being very aware of everything because she's driving Hank's car and is alone with him.
"Have you been to Molly's?" Hank asks, looking over at her.
"No." She answers, wondering why the question came up. "I don't think I can since-"
"You should go with us." He interrupts.
Silence fills the car as she thinks of what to say.
"Alright." She softly agrees.
"Tonight, after work." Al tells Hank, having been listening to the conversation.
