Olinsky nervously paces the kitchen floor as he waits for Hank to join him for coffee. Danielle and Antonio have already left to work, Al having already broken the news to Dawson who was very shocked but assured Alvin that four will find a way out of this Bingham mess. They both promised to not tell their wife, keeping her in the dark about the news so she doesn't have any panic attacks and so her guilt doesn't worsen. At 2 a.m. this morning, Alvin's phone buzzed with a call from a friend of his, and the call shook him up after he recieved word of what has happened. "Hey, man." Hank's voice softly breaks his best friend out of his thoughts. "Hey, man." Al says so softly that it's almost a whisper. "You [made] me coffee?" Hank asks as he takes the mug Al is handing to him. "Yeah." Al answers, looking down at his shoes. "You realize, I think the last time you [made] me coffee, we were riding in a squad together." Hank says with a small smile, said memory coming back to him. "Well, return to basics is good." Al says with a small shrug. "That right? I didn't realize either one of us missed your burnt coffee." Voight jokes with a soft chuckle, watching Al walk off to one of the walls in the living room. The wall contains pictures the quad has taken together over the years, silly selfies, wedding photos, engagement photos, pregnancy photos, pictures of the four with family and friends. A soft sigh of uncertainty leaves Olinsky's mouth and that's enough for Hank to walk over to him after he's set the mug of coffee on the island counter. "What the hell's going on, Al?" He asks softly, his best friend finally making eye contact with him. "Terry from Narcotics called me last night. Ruben Gilbright's possession charge was dropped. So..." Voight nods slowly, not looking away, "my plan didn't work. Woods is protecting him. Wants to make sure he can testify against me." Al sighs as he tries to remain stoic, yet it's hard for him to do so knowing the heroin charge was supposed to land Gilbright in jail for 5 years, but it's only been 4 months and the guy is already out. "Alright." Hank says softly, acknowledging his pal's words. "If Internal Affairs is gonna show up at [our] door with, uh....an arrest warrant-" "Al, I'm not gonna...I'm not gonna let it get that far." "Yes, you are. For [her] sake, yes, you are. Hank, we let it come. Because in the end, they won't have enough. So we let it hit me. I go through it. Deal with the hell. And we come out the other side. That's the way we both get saved here." Al explains to him, Hank admiring how loyal Al is being to not only him, but their wife, taking his and hers wedding vows extremely serious. "Okay?" Olinsky whispers, watching his best friend nod slowly with slight reluctance.
"Boss." Adam says, catching up to the Sargent by foot in the personal parking lot, Hank having just gotten to work. He waits for Adam to catch up to him, sensing he has what the Sargent has asked of him. "Alright, so my contact in the ASA's office is in court until this afternoon. As soon as she's out, I'll have answers. If it's on the move, she'll know about it." Ruzek informs his boss softly, Hank spotting his very happy wife and Kevin crossing the street to get to a food truck selling breakfast sandwiches. It pains him to know she'll be hurting when she finds out about the brand new info Terry gave Al. "Listen, I need more than just confirmation. I need details if I'm going to outrun this, okay?" He stresses to Ruzek who nods, following the Sargent's gaze. "Copy that, yeah." "Alright, and no one can know it came from me." "No, of course." Adam promises, watching his boss meet up with the sniper who excitedly walks with him inside the station after kissing his cheek.
~2 hours later~
"A little birdie told me you were hungry, so I brought you this." Al tells Danielle who looks up at him from her desk, pausing her Solitare game. "What is it?" She asks softly as she carefully takes a white bag and a coffee cup Al is holding out to her. He waits for her to open the bag, smiling as he watches a smile grow on her lips. "Oh my God, a muffin! And it's blueberry!" She squeals excitedly, standing up and looking at her husband, leaning over her desk and giving him a kiss. "You love me and I love you." She tells him, Al hugging her before she sits back down. "You've got that right." He tells her, giving her a kiss on her right cheek before telling her he has to go back downstairs. Danielle watches him leave, happily picking at her muffin, trying to eat it slowly so it lasts longer, doing the same with her coffee by taking small sips. "Hey, hon." Antonio tells her as he and Hank stop in front of her desk. "Hi. Look, look, Al got me coffee and a muffin." She tells them, showing them her food and drink with a big smile. The two men can't help but smile back equally as big, finding her excitement about her first meal of the day adorable. "Make sure you finish them, okay? We can't have you feeling sick." Hank tells her gently, Danielle nodding and promising him and Antonio that she'll finish the food and drink. Dawson leaves to go sign some papers downstairs while Hank walks into his office to carefully and silently plan out what he wants to do to stop Al's case. The sniper happily keeps eating her muffin, soon hearing the chatter of the other men as they come up the stairs. "Oooh, whatcha got there, sis?" Kevin asks her as he walks up to her desk. "Al got me coffee and a muffin." She proudly shows Kevin her food. "What flavor?" He asks with a smile. "Blueberry." She answers, offering him some, Kev taking a small piece, thanking her. "Were you the birdie?" She asks him. "Maybe." Atwater says with a playful shrug as he walks to his desk, earning a grateful thanks from his good friend. Adam quietly walks up to Voight's opened office, knocking softly. The Sargent motions him to walk in and to close the door behind him. "My contact in the ASA'S office [got out of court early]. I can hold off." "No, go now." Hank orders him. "You got it." Adam complies without hesitation, quietly leaving the office.
~5 hours later~
"She give you an answer?" Hank asks Adam who quietly walks up to him after he's ordered Danielle and Kevin to do some patrolling for Platt who needs help downstairs. "Special Grand Jury has already been summoned." "Who's the prosecutor?" "James Osha." Adam answers in a whisper, Hank knowing what he has to do. Just as he's about to walk off to get his coat from his office, Adam stops him, "Boss, hey...they're gonna convene in 48 hours." Voight just shakes his head slightly. "We'll be fine." He says, getting ready to leave, wanting to take a cruise to clear his head. Ruzek looks for his mentor, finding Al nonchalantly standing near by, proof reading an old file for Jay, not knowing his mentor has heard all that was said.
It's been 45 minutes that Danielle has been sitting at her desk doing absolutely nothing work related and she's enjoying every single second of it. The men are out and about helping Trudy with some light patrolling, and her husbands told her to stay in since the weather dropped another 15 degrees. She's currently watching an episode of a cooking show she likes when she has a feeling to pause it, which she does. Immediately after, her ears pick up a footstep pattern not belonging to her husbands or teammates, which makes her worry slightly. It's not until she really puts the gears in her mind to work that she recognizes the steps belong to Denny Woods who so happens to walk into the bullpen and towards Hank's office. He finds Voight isn't in, neither is anyone else but the sniper who is attentively watching his every move as he slowly saunters over to stand in front of her desk. "Detective Rodri-, actually, which last name do you go by?" He asks her with a small smile, clearly trying to insinuate something. Danielle remains silent while looking at him, not bothering to stand at ease for the two-faced man. "Are you the only one here?" "Isn't it obvious?" He's about to answer when a picture of the quad she keeps on her desk catches his attention. He picks up the small frame, eyes looking over the four who, in the photograph, are dressed in their wedding attire. "I'm just coming to see how everything is going. You know, Chief Lugo just told me to call. But I figured I shouldn't waste an opportunity to come by here while I still can. Because pretty soon [Hank] and Al are gonna be, uh...tied up." He says, setting down the picture just as she had it, his words making goosebumps break out on her skin. She remains straight faced, hoping her emotions don't cause her facade to crack. "But you already know [that if] you lay down with lions, you get hunted with them, don't you?" Denny asks smugly, the sentence feeling like a threat to the sniper who never lets her unemotional gaze falter. "Can we help you with something?" Hank's voice causes Woods and the sniper to look towards the stairs, finding the Sargent, his right hand man, and the second in command detective standing near Mouse's old desk, all three men wearing deadpan expressions. "Just came by to give my congratulations on another year of marriage. That's all." Denny lies with a small smile before he walks past the three to get downstairs. "Are you okay, amor?" Antonio asks his wife softly as he rushes over to her once Denny is fully gone. "Yeah. He came by looking for Hank but I was the only one here." "What did he tell you, little bird? He didn't touch you, did he? 'Cause he's in for a world of hurt if he did." "He didn't. And he just said he was coming by while he still can because you two will be 'tied up' pretty soon and that because I'm laying with lions that I'm-" A knot of tears forms in her throat, unexpectedly causing her to stop talking. The scenario doesn't sink in until now, making her realize this case is serious. She knows Woods is a man with a certain amount of power, a man who can get almost everything he wants if he uses the right words to get to the right people. "Hey, nena, it's okay. We're right here." Antonio assures her softly, noticing she was beginning to worry. After each give her a hug, Al offers his wife lunch which she agrees to, Antonio asking if he can join which Al say yes to. "You wanna join, Voight?" Al asks kindly, Hank spotting Ruzek walking up the stairs. "I'm gonna get a head start on co-signing some papers for Trudy, but if I finish on time, I'll meet you three. Just text me where you decide to eat." Voight lies. "Sounds good." Antonio says with a nod. They leave towards the garage, deciding to head out for lunch in the Unit assigned Cadillac. "Adam. Listen, I want you to hang back and swing by Osha's house." Hank lowly tells Adam who is finishing up a cup of hot chocolate. "Wait, seriously, you want me to go to his house?" Ruzek asks in a bit of shock. "Look, just tell him I sent you. I know him. He's a stand up guy. Say I'll meet him anywhere he wants; we'll talk in private. But it's gotta be now. Okay? I am done calling his ass." Hank says in slight frustration, spotting Jay and Kevin walking up the stairs so he immediately retreats into his office, leaving Adam standing in front of the now closed door before he gets to taking off, doing what has been asked of him.
