OCTOBER TWENTY FIRST,
TWO THOUSAND AND ELEVEN19:07 at night
STARS GLEAMED THROUGH the darkening firmament, a path of light guiding two soulmates, ostracised from their six-way bond, home. They watched solemnly, prayers of peace ringing throughout the air, whispers unheard, tears unseen. The stars wished to whisk the two away, grab them in their embrace, hold them tenderly, pat their heads, comfort them, tell them everything's going to be alright. But they were up in the sky, and they were down on earth.
Sora trudged through the streets, his hands wrapped around Tobio's thighs. The younger boy was on his back, arms wound around his neck, holding onto his soulmate tightly, desperately. He burrowed his face into the column of skin, hiding the tears that streaked down. Sora could feel his emotions, could feel the occasional tear drop and splat against his skin. His grip would tighten, and he would pull Tobio closer.
I'll protect you, he vowed. From everyone and everything.
(even if it means killing off 80% of the population)
Silence enveloped them. The night dared not to make a sound; it watched dolefully. The breeze brushed past the duo tenderly, caressing their skin in reassurances. Sora felt the heat exuding off Tobio's body. It was a constant reminder of his presence, of the heat of the gold lines intertwining their souls together. His cerulean eyes took in the surroundings: dark blue firmament, white speckled stars, waltzing green leaves — nothing out of the usual. Well, his usual. For Tobio and for us? The brown of the tree trunks were a faded grey; no doubt chocolate would look grey now, dark green would no longer be the same, and brown, almost black, would be grey, too.
The colour of their soulmates' eyes...
All of it was grey now.
"Sora," Tobio mumbled, cheek pressed against the back of his soulmate's neck.
"Yes, baby?"
"How do you put up a wall?"
Sora paused, his steps coming to a pause. A tingle of shock seeped through his veins, and he angled his head back to lock eyes with his soulmate. His heart ached at the question.
"Are you sure you want to put one up?" he questioned. "It can get tiring."
Tobio nodded his head, arms tightening around Sora's neck. There was no hesitation in their bond, no fear or anxiety. He had made up his mind. "I'm sure."
And so, with a sigh, Sora explained the process, "To start off, you'll need to focus on the bonds, where they are exactly in your soul. Then, you'll have to imagine a wall; it's meant to block off all emotions."
