when he's away from you,
shouldn't he be happier than ever?
DECEMBER FIRST,
TWO THOUSAND AND TWELVE9:38 in the morning
THERE'S THIS SORT OF curve made from a once upon a time history. Attached—perhaps clinging—to memories of laughter and childlike grins. The sun doth shone, it doth glimmer over what used to be. Like a cool cloth to a fever-ridden forehead— something able to alleviate irritable pain. Like fresh lips to bone. A corpse of a boy who could put Icarus' ambition to shame. A boy who would stretch his wings and fly to the sun, ready to embrace its fiery aura.
All for five.
Always for the same five.
But all he knew was loneliness. One that manifested because of unavailable parents, always engaged at work. Who did they love more? Their jobs or their child?
The child never cared.
He went about with his life, making friends here and there— wherever he went. Simply to fill a daunting hole in his chest.
Using whatever he could, the child drifted through life, an essence in a plagued world, neither becoming nor being. He went about, afloat, hoping to one day meet those whose souls were intertwined with his.
And when he did, he loved them with what little was left of him. He constructed pieces, forged them under hammers and heat. He gave them a man-made heart, beating only with assistance, and yet, they demanded that it survive on its own, belonging only to itself, whole, entirely whole, and workable in the dark cavern under his ribs. It hurt. But Sora Suzuki made it work. For them. Always.
"Be safe," he muttered, lips lingering against the temple of his youngest soulmate.
Sora's arms embraced him gently, holding Tobio Kageyama to his chest like a pot cradling soil— essential for the existence of its holder.
"Make sure to look both ways when crossing the road, okay? Follow Sugawara's directions down to the dot." He pulled him closer. It hurt to let him go. Why must they separate? "Don't hesitate to call me if something's wrong or if you need anything. I'll drop everything and come for you."
My child, be careful with your words.
Don't trust your fragile heart in careless, forgetful hands.

Out on the bustling streets, Tobio clutched onto scribbled paper, fingers digging into the sheets as he glanced around the area. He really should've asked Sora to come with him. He really fucking should have. Because now, he was lost on the streets of Tokyo, a place that was foreign to him without the presence of his eldest soulmate by his side. Tobio should have swallowed his pride and asked for help, but his ego was huge, and Kageyama refused to add more stress onto Sora's plate.
