7. The Morning

Madison's Pov: 

I woke up with something on top of me. I looked at what it was and saw Delaney laying with her head on my chest and her arm wrapped around my stomach and her one leg on top of my legs. I looked at the beautiful sight in front of me. 'How can one person be so beautiful,' I thought to myself. I noticed that we both had on our clothes from the day before. I got out of the bed without waking Delaney up and went downstairs. I saw that her mom was in the kitchen. "Hey Madison. Thank you for yesterday. I didn't know the guy was Madison's ex," she said. "Oh really it's no problem."  I can tell that you make her happy though," her mom said those words to me and I felt so warm inside. "If Delaney wakes up can you tell her that I went home to get changed and that I would come and pick her up when I'm done?" "Sure. You might want to hurry up though." "Ok. Thank you." With that I was out of her house running to my car. I got in my car and sped out of the driveway. My house wasn't to far from hers so it was only a five minute drive. I parked my car on the road in front of my house. I ran inside and said hi to my mom. I didn't give her enough time to say anything back. I ran into my room and picked out a basic outfit which was just a pair of light wash jeans cuffed at the bottoms, a white t-shirt and a maroon and brown plaid flannel over top of the shirt, and some nike blazers, with the regular chain and rings. I ran downstairs and said goodbye to my mom. I ran out to my car and realized I forgot my phone inside. I looked and saw a text from Anna.

Madison: I got a ride to school. You don't have to pick me up.

                                                                     Me: Ok. See you at school :)

'Wonder who she got a ride wit- why do I even care its not like shes my girlfriend or anything. I mean I wish she was but that would never happen,'  I thought to myself. There was no point in hurrying anymore so I just sat on my bed. Since I had more time I decided to go on tiktok. I mean I have a few thousand followers but not that many. I was scrolling on my for you page when I came across her. 

Delaney's Pov:

I woke up with an empty feeling. I looked to my side and didn't see Madison. I looked around for her. I finally went downstairs on the verge of tears thinking she left me for the second time. Although this time was in real life. My mom could tell I was panicking and said something but I couldn't understand what she said. "What did you say?" I asked. "I said that if you're looking for Madison, which I think you are, she went home and said that she would pick you up when she was done changing," she said. "Oh ok," I said feeling relieved. 

"You like her don't you?" "What do you mean." "Delaney I am your mother. I know when you like someone. Also you were practically drooling over her yesterday. And don't even get me started on you two cuddling this morning." "First off. She helped me yesterday. Also I we are just friends. If that even," I reply trying not to slip and say anything about her beating up Collin. "I know she punched the boy yesterday," she said. 'Shit,' I thought to myself. "How did you know?" "First off I was watching the whole thing and she wasn't so sly about it. Her hand is all busted up." "Wait really. Is it ok. Did it look bad? I didn't see that yesterday." "See I told you." "Told me what?" "You like her. You were so worried about her and her hand. Also to answer your question, it didn't look to bad." 'Damn she's good.'  "Um no I don't." "Fifty bucks says you like her," a voice said from behind me. I turned around and saw it was Michael. "Fine." We both set 25 dollars on the counter so it was fifty dollars. "Can't wait to be fifty dollars richer," he said with a proud smile on his face. "Yeah no. I will be fifty dollars richer," I said.

I walked upstairs to my room and started thinking about what my mom and brother said. 'Maybe I do- Nope Delaney don't even think about it. Remember what you promised yourself sophomore year.'  And with that I stopped thinking about it and got ready for school. I put on some ripped jeans and a over sized t-shirt with a pair of regular air-forces. I then went in my closet to look for a hoodie just in case it got cold. While I was looking I saw one of Collin's hoodies. I thought I got rid of them all but I guess I didn't. I was gonna throw it out until i saw that it was the hoodie he wore to my soccer game before he asked me out. All the memories came back. All the bad ones got overlooked by the good ones. I felt my eyes start to tear up and I couldn't hold it in anymore. I just let it all out. I knew I couldn't let Madison see me like this, so I texted her.

Madison ;)

                                                       Me: I got a ride to school. You don't have to pick me up.

Madison: Ok. See you at school :) 

I hope that was convincing enough. I went downstairs and saw that my mom took my younger brother to school and that Michael left for work. I took the hoodie and threw it in the garbage. I didn't want to think of him forever.

I looked at the clock and saw that I was gonna be late if I didn't leave now. I grabbed my backpack and keys and walked out to my car. I got in my car and started to drive. I put on some Novo Amor and just drove off. While I was in the car I was fighting off the urge to cry every five seconds. Then the lyrics played "It was heaven a moment ago. Oh, I had it almost. We had it almost." Those lyrics hurt so much. I though about turning back around and going home but I had to much pride. So instead I kept on driving until I made it to where Madison brought me yesterday. I turned the music up louder and rolled the windows down. I got on top of my car and sat on the roof. I just sat there while the music played. I didn't feel like going to school. 

I sat there for probably an hour just watching over everything and listening to Novo Amor. Everything looked so pretty and calm. I finally decided I should probably go to school so I don't miss the whole day.
