35. Confusion

Delaney's POV:

"Why the fuck did frog boy just give you a present?" Kai asked, taking her seat at the table.

"Oh, let me just read his mind real quick. Oh wait, I can't," I replied, putting my head back on my arms.

"She's mad because her girlfriend is ignoring her," Lana explains to Kai.

"I'm not mad," I practically yell.

"Right cause happy people act the way you are right now. Gotchu," Olivia says. 

"I don't understand what I did," I say, talking quietly.

"Is it really that confusing. I mean you went for an ice cream date with bryce halls somehow uglier cousin and kissed him. She saw you while you were with frog bitch having the best time of your life." Lana explains, putting quotes around the last part.

"It really is a mystery," Kai says, with a fake confused face. 

'Oh fuck,' I think to myself.

"Is that really why?" I ask.

"It could be a possibility," Kai replies.

"If I were you I would fix it before it gets worse," Lana suggests.

"You're probably right," I say.

"As always," she says, with a proud smile. 

Madison's POV

"Are you really reading on the bleachers? Nobody does that except for people in rom-coms," James says unimpressed.

"Um rude, its a good book. Where's your boyfriend?" I ask.

"He's in the library waiting for me, I just wanted to check on you. But I see you are occupied." James says.

Delaney comes around to the front of the bleachers. James turns around and sees her. He looks at me with a mischievous smile.

"Guess that's my queue to leave," James says, winking at me.

I roll my eyes at his suggestive action, knowing I want nothing to do with her right now. I watch him walk down the bleachers and Delaney walk up them. She takes a seat next to me. 

"You wanna ditch," she asks, looking at me.

I ignore her and stay focused on my book. She waves her hands in front of my face. 

"You can't ignore me forever," she says, moving closer to me. 

I close my book and grab my book bag and sling it over my shoulder. I stand up and start walking down the bleachers. 

She stays seated. "I'll take that as a 'no' I guess," I hear her say defeated.

I walk to the bottom of the bleachers and towards the school building. Avoiding your problems may not solve them but it gets rid of them for a minute.
