He felt someone covering him up but he was too intoxicated to focus his eyes. At first, he thought it was his mom putting him to bed. He felt her soft hand pushing his hair off his forehead and placing a soft kiss against it and he knew...

Amelie: "You're ok, sweetheart."
Jaden breathed out the words as if they were his last: "I love you."
The room stood still with a deafening silence until she finally eked out: "You really need to slow down with drinking."
Jaden opened his eyes and stared straight into the bright blue pools behind her eyes: "I know what I said."
Amelie: "Wh- what? Why would you say that?"
Jaden rubbed his head and pulled his hoodie back up, complaining: "God my head hurts."
Amelie scooted closer and snuggled into his chest: "I know. I left a bottle of water on your nightstand. That will help."
Jaden pulled her tighter: "I just want you. I know you're scared and I know I'm not making this easy at all... but God I just want to be with you. That's all I want in the world."
Amelie: "Are you-"
Jaden: "I'm asking you to be my girlfriend."
*END JADEN'S POV*
When you got home, Amelie was shutting the door to Jaden's room, quietly.
You: "So is this gonna be a regular thing?"
Amelie seemed confused but held her hand to her lips to suggest you lower your voice.
You: "I meant you finishing with my brother and sneaking out of his room to come hang out with me... but I was just joking."
Amelie: "I put him to sleep and then just sat with him while I waited for you to get back. Mads told me what happened before they all left."
You: "Oh..."
Amelie: "She said you left with Griffin? That you kissed?"
You got defensive but only because you truly felt guilty for potentially hurting Griffin: "So brothers are only off limits when it comes to me then? That's not really fair, is it?"
Amelie: "It's also not fair that you're leading Griffin on when you are in deep for another guy."
You: "Well, he doesn't want me so what am I supposed to do just sit here and be alone forever?"
Amelie: "What? Why do you think that?"
You started to cry so she tried to comfort you by offering: "It can't be a coincidence that he keeps showing up where you are."
You showed her the text and broke down telling her everything that happened tonight.
Amelie: "I'm going to ask you a question, please be honest..."
You gulped, scared of what she was going to likely get you to admit.
Amelie: "How do you really feel about Griffin?"
You: "He's my best friend and I like him a lot. I love him, you know that."
Amelie: "But do you love him the way he loves you?"
You: "I don't know... maybe? I could. I really could if I just could get Josh out of my head."
Amelie: "Hun, my best advice is that you work through what you need to with Josh and then once your head is clear you have my total blessing to work out or not work out whatever is supposed to happen with my brother."
