*YOUR POV*

You decided to stop at the studio because you knew it would be a long and sleepless night. You might as well put some of this pent-up energy to good use. You were shocked to find Chase already inside and working quietly on lyrics. He took his headphones off and smiled up at you:
"I didn't know you were coming in tonight?"

After a few minutes of small talk, you decided to ask the thing you were most curious about:
"So, I heard you finally decided to make a commitment to Charli..."

Chase: "You were right. Honestly, it's better than I even thought it could be. She came with me this summer and it was like we were in our own little world."

You: "You know though that now that you're home, you're in the real world and in the real world, she has a son."

Chase: "Yeah. I actually think that's gonna be pretty cool. Like, I know he already has a dad but who's gonna teach him to play the guitar?"

*CHARLI'S POV*

Charli walked in, unaware of what conversation she'd interrupted. She was just happy to see Chase. She was carrying Ben in her arms and when he saw Y/N, his face lit up. Charli handed him to her. She had no desire to keep Ben away from someone he was so attached to just because his dad and her weren't working out. Charli watched as Y/N played with Ben and smiled:
"I think he really missed you."

Y/N: "I missed you too, buddy."

Charli saw the door open first and turned to take Ben back. She looked to Chase and announced:
"We should get home. Coming Chase?"

Y/N turned in confusion as Chase, Charli, and Ben shuffled out the door being held open by Josh.

*JOSH'S POV*

He walked closer to her slowly until she finally asked:
"Wh- What are you doing here?"

He just smiled up at her as she clarified:
"D- Don't you have a jet to catch for your away game tomorrow night?"

Josh: "There's a dozen flights between now and tomorrow. There's only one you and I'm not getting on without you."

Y/N: "Why now? I don't understand."

Josh: "I never wanted this to be the end. I was just trying to do right by you and everything got so messed up."

Y/N: "But- You DID end it? I didn't imagine the last few months of feeling destroyed."

*YOUR POV*

Josh wrung his hands through his hair as he explained:
"I really thought getting married would pressure you to give up your dream or me to give up mine. I didn't want us to resent each other but I never wanted us to be over."

You had tears streaming down your cheeks as you begged:
"What's the point in being together if marriage would never work between us?"

Josh exclaimed:
"I didn't know what tf I was talking about. I would marry you today if you agreed. I'd give up basketball. I'd follow you anywhere."

You: "You can't do that you need basketball."

Josh blurted out:
"Yeah, well I need you more."

Before you could think better of it, he had pulled you into his arms and silenced any argument you might have with a kiss.

*JOSH'S POV

Josh pulled back with a cautious smile:
"Marry me."

She was shocked by how much that sounded like a certainty instead of a question:
"I- We can't it was a disaster last time."

Josh argued:
"We were a disaster apart too. So? Marry me."

Y/N: "Right now?"

Josh couldn't hold back his smile as he challenged:
"Why not."

She pulled back and paced around the studio as she scrambled for sanity:
"You have your game and I have an album to write."

Josh: "So? Marry me and come to my game with me and then we have a week off. I'm getting Ben and he and I will cook you dinner every night so you can stay late in the studio. We can make this work just marry me."

*REPORTER'S POV*

College kid offered an NBA contract weeks before starting his Junior year of university was the hot story and he was excited to be at the game covering it. The tip-off was only 15 minutes away and their new star player had not only missed the morning's practice but was still missing in action.

He decided to confront the coach for answers and was met with the standard response:
"Josh missed this morning's practice because of a personal matter but we expect him-"

The reporter couldn't help but interrupt. It was a story almost too good to be true:
"What personal matter? Arrest? Dr*g problem? Is Richards suffering an injury already this early in the season?"

Before the coach could deflect the question, Josh Richards himself pushed his way through the crowd, pulling off his jacket to reveal he was already in uniform. He explained:
"Actually I got married."
