On the car ride home, she had to have called Josh 10 times, and not once did he answer. Amelie tried to comfort her best friend but also knew she needed to give actually helpful advice:
"Maybe you should just give him some space to calm down?"

You: "I thought that's what I was doing last night."

Amelie felt bad for you but she also knew you got yourself into this mess fair and square so like a true best friend she pushed you:
"Technically, last night you were breaking up my brother and Eva."

You: "You know nothing happened. I didn't mean to start anything."

Amelie: "I know, hun. Maybe just go pop in on your mom and see if she wants to hang for a while."

*YOUR POV*

When you walked inside, calling your mom's name, no one answered but you did hear a commotion upstairs. You both headed upstairs and to your surprise found Jaden digging around in his old room.

You: "Did you forget you don't live here anymore, Bubba?"

Jaden was clearly frustrated as he snapped:
"Neither do you. I'm looking for my black jeans. What's your excuse?"

You: "I was looking for Mom. Any clue where she is?"

Jaden threw down the pile of clothes in his hands, huffing:
"No- God where are they? They have to be here. They aren't at Ness-"

He spun around and came face to face with Amelie who'd followed you upstairs and stopped mid-sentence. She could almost hear his heartbeat out of his chest at the sight of the girl he'd never stopped loving.

*AMELIE'S POV*

Her bestie excused herself with a made-up excuse of checking for them in her room but it didn't matter. As far as she and Jaden were concerned... they were the only two in the room. Amelie apologized:
"I didn't mean to invade your personal space. I- I just was giving your sister a ride."

Jaden tried to play it cool:
"You're all good. How have you been?"

Amelie blurted out:
"I'm seeing Blake now."

God! She didn't know why she said that. She just froze and blurted out the first thing that popped in her head. Jaden stood in front of her scrambling for something to say back that would level the playing field in this game of who could pretend to care less:
"Yeah... well, I better hurry. Nessa is waiting in the car for me.

*YOUR POV*

You walked back in carrying a pair of jeans:
"These were in the bathroom. Is this them?"

You weren't sure what you walked in on but Amelie was quick to announce:
"I really need to get home. Are you gonna need a ride to talk to Josh or are you waiting here for your Mom?"

You wanted a chance to talk to Jaden alone so you told Amelie you'd wait and she hurried down the stairs to leave, upset.

You turned back to Jaden and wasted no time:
"What was that about?"

Jaden: "That was about I still have feelings for her but I don't want to hurt Amelie, Nessa, or Blake so I'm trying to convince myself that I don't."

You: "J, someone always gets hurt. Does it always have to be you?"

Jaden: "Sometimes the past is just the past."

*JADEN'S POV*

Jaden didn't even believe that as he was saying it but he was so desperate to stop hurting everyone around him

Jaden didn't even believe that as he was saying it but he was so desperate to stop hurting everyone around him... including himself.

Y/N: "I think Amelie still has feelings for you too."

Jaden: "I know that but it doesn't matter."

Y/N: "If you would just let her know how you feel-"

Jaden interrupted: "Then it still would change nothing because we hooked up again 2 weeks ago and she still didn't want to be with me. I'm not scared. I'm tired of being rejected. There's a difference."

*NESSA'S POV*

Neither one of them realized that while Jaden was confessing to cheating on her, Nessa was standing outside the bedroom door

Neither one of them realized that while Jaden was confessing to cheating on her, Nessa was standing outside the bedroom door. She had tried to stay in the car as Jaden asked, but when she saw Amelie rush out upset then her curiosity got the best of her.

She was just coming to see if Jaden was upset too and maybe would let her in but she didn't expect to hear him confessing to being in love with his ex. And definitely not to him hooking up with her. She could feel her blood begin to boil but decided she wasn't ready to confront anyone. She turned and hurried down the stairs as fast as she could, silently.
