The next morning you decided to surprise Josh with breakfast since you’d promised him a breakfast date when you’d originally blown him off the night before.

Josh: *opening his bedroom door only a crack* “Uh, hi. Um do you think maybe we could do this another time?”
You: “I brought breakfast and-”
Josh: “I just thought with the sleepover you’d cancel so- uh- let’s just meet up later.”
You couldn’t understand why he was being so secretive but it hurt to think that he was clearly hiding something from you.
You: “I guess if you change your mind and decide you want to see me today afterall just- uh- let me know.”
He shut the door on you and when he was sure he’d heard you retreat back down the stairs he turned towards his bed: “Okay, you just made me start a fight with my girl that I wasn’t prepared to deal with today so start talking.”
*JOSH’S POV*
Jaden: “I need help dude.”
Josh: “Yeah, no kidding. You were so blacked out last night that MY ex dropped you on my doorstep.”
Jaden: “Is she really your ex if you never dated?”
Josh: “You know what I meant- That’s not the point. What is going on with you dude?”
Jaden: “I think I have a problem.”
Josh: “What was your first clue? Throwing away your scholarship, your education, your family, your girl?”
Jaden: “How is she?”
Josh: “Why don’t you pull your head out of your assand go fix things with her then you’d know.”
Jaden: “I can’t. I just can’t. I don’t expect you to understand.”
Josh: “If you love her then, yeah, you can. It’s that simple. You just go get her.”
Jaden: “She’s just so perfect and when I’m with her I feel absolutely worthless. It’s like I can’t do anything right. And before you say anything I know she isn’t to blame for that. She didn’t do anything… it’s just how I feel.”
Josh: “And you think hooking up with Nessa last night is gonna make you feel better?”
Jaden: “I have to tell you something…”
Josh sat confused as Jaden admitted: “I didn’t just hook up with her last night. I’ve actually been living at her house for over a month.”
Josh: “Oh snap. Is it, like, serious?”
Jaden: “I don’t know. I mean obviously I like her. I just am all screwed up. I know I need to get clean but I don’t think I can do it there. She has a problem with pills and her being h!gh all the time just makes it too easy to stay h!gh all the time myself.”
Josh just shook his head in agreement so Jaden asked: “You knew?”
Josh: “I mean, we may have only hooked up once or twice but we’ve been friends a long time. Yeah, I knew.”
Jaden: “I just feel torn. I like her a lot but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit I still love Amelie.”
Josh: “This is gonna hurt to hear, but you need to listen to me. Amelie is doing good. Better than good.”
Jaden: “Do you think she misses me?”
Josh: “Of course but she deserves to not be dragged into this. Just let her move on, bro.”
After talking for a bit, Jaden agreed to let Josh drive him to a rehab facility. They hugged it out in the lobby before the nurse took him back.
Josh: “I’m always gonna be here for you.”
Jaden: “Yeah, I know. By the time I get outta here, you’ll probably be my brother-in-law.”
Josh: “Gimme a few years and you gotta deal.”
