Chapter 14: Awakening

Sophia's POV

I woke up not feeling well. Masakit ang buo kong katawan habang kumikirot naman ng matindi ang ulo ko.

Naupo ako saka sinandal ang aking likuran sa headboard ng kama.

"Lady Elizabeth?"

I look at the person who just came in. She's staring at me while covering her mouth. Then, she immediately left my room for no reason. What's with Melrose?

Later on, she came back with the Duke. I notice the worry in their eyes. What's going on?

"Sister Elizabeth." The twins entered my room. Madali silang umakyat sa aking higaan para yakapin ako.

"How are you?" Duke White asked.

Melrose excused herself to give us privacy.

"I'm fine? What's happening?"

"You passed out," Francisco responded habang nakasandal sa entrance ng pinto. Hindi ko napansin ang pagdating niya.

After seeing him, naalala ko agad kung ano ang nangyari sa 'kin at kung saan ako huling nanggaling.

"How were the treasures?" I asked Francisco.

"We have already finished mining."

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko sa sinabi niya. "Agad-agad?"

"You've been unconscious for a month."

"Eh?" What did he just say?

"The great amount of mana inside you was out of control," singit ng Duke sa usapan.

"What do you mean mana?" I am confused.

"I am also wondering. What happened to you?" Francisco asked seriously.

I shrugged my shoulders. "Kahit ako, wala ring ideya."

"Nasa delikadong sitwasyon ka nang iuwi ka ni Franco. Mabuti na lang ay tumulong ang headmaster ng magic tower na ma-stabilize ang mana sa katawan mo."

I felt chills down my spine. "Pardon?"

Headmaster? Is he telling me that the psycho bast*rd came into our house for my rescue?

"How come you didn't ask for help from the temple?" In regards to stabilizing, I knew that divine power could be a great help.

"You do know our family was not in a good relationship with them," sagot ni Francisco sa tanong ko.

"Oh? Is it?" Hindi ko alam 'yan.

"I'm afraid they cannot do much to help. They might even put you in danger," Duke White said. "I'll ask the chef to prepare your meal. Focus on recuperating for now."

"Yes, Father."

After Duke White and Francisco left my room saka lang pumasok ang mga servant, maging si Melrose at Trisha.

"Sister..." They both look at me with questions visible in their eyes. Elios and Elena were curious about the conversation they heard just now. I pat their heads to calm them down.

"Kahit ako, wala ring naintindihan."

Elena cried suddenly. "I was scared hearing you crying in pain every night."

I chuckled. "Did I make your ears worn out?"

Hindi nakatulong ang sinabi ko, mas lalo lang siyang naiyak. Si Elios naman ay pilit na pinipigilan na hindi gumaya kay Elena.

"Your big sister is fine now. I promise I won't make you worry again."

"Really?" they asked in unison.
