Bucky has been having a bad day... week... month... and an entire fucking year. Day after day, he deals with Hydra messing with his head and putting things in there that had no business being there in the first place. He really can't trust anyone or even his own mind, and it's all because of Baron Zemo. He's been fucking with Bucky's head for such a long time now that it's hard to believe that he's finally free from his clutches.

It's only been a few months since Bucky was allowed to go home, but he's far from being okay. You're doing everything you can to help him through whatever he's going through, but sometimes it's harder than you originally thought it was going to be.

You have to have a ton of patience and love to give, and you only have one of those.

Whenever Bucky goes on missions to prove he is worthy of being on a team, he's usually the one in control since it's one of the few things he can actually control. The whole team understands he needs this, so they don't complain when he takes charge.

"I know these guys, and they are prepared for anything. Do not give them the advantage of your mistakes. Go in, do what you need to do, and get the hell out. Steve and Natasha, I want you two to go through the front. Sam and Steve, go through the back as they will be expecting us from all angles. Tony and Thor will take it from above."

He concludes this meeting, and everyone spreads out to do what they were told. You, however, still need something to do.

"What about me?"

"Stay here and be our eyes. We need someone on the outside to give us what we can't see."

"What? No, you need me inside. I'm going in.'

"No, you're not. You're staying here."

"Oh yeah? Make me!" Bucky just looks up from the ground and glares at you. He is not playing around, and you just groan. "Fine, I'll stay here."

If you were to get hurt or die, then he would surely fall over the edge. You save him as much as he tries to save you, and he isn't going to let his only constant get away from him... not now, not ever.
