Is this my bra or Jenn's? Who cares, I'm keeping it.
I really hope that bitch is out before my wife comes home or else I'm dead.
Medicine. Food. Clothes. Kids. Easy to remember.
I wonder if Madison would like that new underground restaurant that just opened for elites. I am putting my entire savings into this.
The chick with the red shirt is smoking, but her eyes are crazy? Do I try and make a move? Ah, fuck it.
"Excuse me?" a man asked as he tapped on my shoulder while Bucky was off getting us something to drink in a nearby store.
"Shut up!" I hissed to the voices inside my head before whipping around. The man smiled nervously before making an excuse to get out of there quickly.
Never mind. That bitch is just straight-up crazy.
"Please shut up!" I whimpered as I tried to cover my ears as if that would stop the voices from speaking. If anything, it only made things louder for me. The voices weren't my voices in my head, they were everyone else's. My special power was able to hear people's thoughts among other things. Only recently was I rescued from my own superhero trafficking ring where mad scientists experiment on people that bad men captured before selling them off to the highest bidder. Experiments that would create powers in people that only others could dream of.
Before my kidnapping, I was a normal girl: I got straight As, went to a good college, had a tight circle of really good friends, and even had a long-term boyfriend that I saw marrying one day. Everything was going according to plan, and I was really excited for what the future could hold for me. But then the kidnapping happened, and my life hasn't been the same since.
"Hmm," I muttered as I approached my apartment door.
"What is it?" my friend, Tamara asked over the other end of the line. We had just broken off from an intense day of studying for one of the biggest finals of our college experience. This final would make or break our careers so I really wanted to ace it.
"My apartment door is opened slightly. I thought I closed it before I left," I sighed.
"Girl, your apartment has all kinds of problems. The offer still stands, you know."
"You're too kind. I feel like I would be intruding on yours and Mark's life. I'll be okay. It's just a few more months until I can move to California to start my new job," I said excitedly as I entered my apartment. The light switch doesn't seem to be doing anything, and I figured a fuse was blown. What else could go wrong? "I gotta go. I'll call you later."
"Okay. Get some sleep. We can meet around the same time at the cafe across the street from the school."
"Okay, bye," I said as I hung up. With the lights not working, I felt kind of unsafe, but decided to check the fuse box in the morning since I was pretty tired. Making my way to my bedroom, I got the uneasy feeling that someone was watching me, but I forced myself to let it go. Before I could take my jacket off, someone appeared behind me before grabbing me and knocking me out.
