Characters: Tom Holland x Reader
Warnings: panic attack, mostly fluff
Summary: Something as simple as an acceptance letter shouldn't envoke a panic attack from your body. Until you start thinking about being away from Tom and everyone you have ever loved and cared for.

Staring at the acceptance letter in your hands, you couldn't believe you got into your number one college, the college you've dreamed about going to since you were a kid. Everything you worked for has led up to this moment, and it all has paid off. On top of that, you got a full ride scholarship from participating in a lot of extracurricular activities in school, getting all As, and being the best student, you could possibly be.
No one knew about this letter or that you even applied except for your boyfriend, Tom Holland. Going to the University of London would mean you get to finally work towards your dream job. Tom was an excellent actor, and as much as you tried doing the actor thing, it wasn't for you. Anything Tom was in, you got to be extras for his movies, and doing that was so much fun. Meeting the cast of Civil War and Infinity War was amazing, and the whole crew loved you, but that wasn't your dream job.
Getting this scholarship meant you get to live on campus which is recommended for most, if not all, freshmen. However, the more you thought about it, the more you realized you were going to be away from Tom and your families. You two have been together for about two years which is why you were living with him. His and your parents didn't live too far from you which gave you the space you needed, but also close enough in case you needed them.
Living on campus means you got to be away from all of that. You'd have your own life on campus, party without Tom while he lived his life from yours, going to premieres and hanging with other women. It was only a matter of time before he broke up with you because you weren't around.
The more you thought about it, the more your heartbeat increase, your breathing picked up, and your knees got wobbly. Tom wasn't home right now since he was out with Harrison, but you knew he'd be home any minute. Clutching your chest, you tried to focus on your breathing, but every thought about Tom breaking up with you caused more floods of bad thoughts and feelings to rush in.
The letter fluttered from your hand and to the floor, your knees failing soon after. Hitting the hardwood floor, you started to see black spots in your vision, and you started to cough because not enough oxygen was getting in your lungs. Tom was definitely going to break up with you, he won't need you since you would be off to college, living your life without him. You'd get a job that you wanted, and have to leave Tom forever, causing him to move on.
Whimpering in pain, you hunched over as you tried to breathe. Wrapped up in your own head, you didn't hear the door opening or closing, or Tom's voice as he exclaimed right before you felt hands on your shoulders.
"Breathe, darling, I'm right here," he said, trying to support you. He didn't know what caused this, but all he could think about was getting you better.
"I... can't..." you panted, shaking your head. Tom looked around until he saw the letter on the floor. Once he saw "The University of London" and "Congratulations", he knew that you were freaking out about that.
"Yes, you can. Match me," he helped you sit upright before placing your ear above his heart. His heartbeat was clear as day as he took deep breaths in, exhaling once he held that breath for a few seconds. Feeling his chest rise and fall, you tried to match his breathing which was hard, but he wouldn't stop until he knew you were better. This wasn't the first time he had to help you through an attack. After five minutes of sitting on the floor, you started to breathe normally as your vision cleared up. When you knew you would be alright, you shakily grabbed the letter before showing it to Tom.
"I got in," you whispered.
"That's good, I'm so proud of you," Tom said gently, smoothing your hair down as he stared into your eyes.
"No, Tom," you got tears, "I got in. Full ride which means I'll live on campus and be away from you. We barely see each other as it is with your movies. Which, I mean, good for you because I am so proud of you for doing that, but you'll move on from me, and break up with me, and—"
"Darling, sweetheart, slow down. What are you talking about? I'm not going to break up with you just because you're going to college."
"You're not?"
"No, why would you think that?"
"I'm going to be living on campus, and I'll be away from you."
"Darling, the university is only 45 minutes away," he chuckled. "You don't even have to live on campus, you could stay here. Or live there and come home when you don't have school. We've spent two years together, I'm not going anywhere."
"Really?" you asked, needing that clarification once more.
"Really. I love you so much."
"I love you too," you smiled before wrapping your arms around his neck and pressing your lips against his. You two kissed like that on the floor while the outside world moved on without you. Realizing Tom would always be there for you, you knew you'd have nothing to worry about.
