Peggy wandered from her sisters, looking into the bakery windows. They were filled with such delicious looking treats. She rushed in to get a scone and came out, completely unaware where her sisters went. Someone was yelling in the square, catching her attention.

"My dog speaks more eloquently than thee," one of the men said. Another one imitated a puppy and laughed with his friends.

"You're playing a dangerous game," the man said, looking at the entire group mocking him. They went into a back and forth, arguing over the king, until the person who claimed the first man was less than a dog was shoved out of the way by British soldiers. The first dude, wearing a cassock, stomped off, muttering things close to obscenities, like "Frick", yet not cussing.

"Sir, are you alright?" Peggy asked, stopping the man.

"Am I alright? Alexander Hamilton just embarrassed me in front of all of New York! I am not alright!" the man said, waving his arms hysterically. He held a rolled piece of paper in one hand and let the other fist up when he was done.

"Hamilton? Oh, I know him! My sisters are head over heels for him. I don't know why, he doesn't seem like an interesting person," Peggy said. The man laughed a bit and she smiled at it.

"I don't understand why people like him, he's loud and rather rude to strangers," the man said. Peggy giggled and took the last bite of her scone.

"My name's Peggy Schuyler! May I ask yours?" Peggy said once she finished. She wiped her hands on her dress and held one out.

"Samuel Seabury, it's a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Schuyler," the man, Samuel, said. He took her hand and kissed her knuckles gently.

"Oh, so I'm with a gentleman, I see. And how do you know if I'm unmarried?" Peggy giggled. Samuel smiled and gave a faux bow to Peggy.

"I'm a very excellent gentleman. Also, first off, you're walking around New York alone, second, you don't have a ring on your finger, and third, everyone knows the Schuyler sisters are all unmarried," Samuel said, waving his arm in the air. Peggy hid her left hand when he mentioned the lack of a ring and looked down.

"Well, it appears you are unmarried too, there's no ring on your hand, Mr. Seabury," Peggy said. Samuel blushed and looked at his hand, which still held the scroll.

"It appears you are correct. So, would the lovely, single lady like for an excellent gentleman like myself to take her for a date and escort her home after?" Samuel asked. Peggy blushed and looked at the ground while covering her face in a flirtatious manner.

"That would be nice. Especially if that gentleman was you," Peggy said with a smile.

"Wait- Really? I-I mean- Great! I just need to change into something appropriate. It won't take long, I promise," Samuel said as he stumbled away. Peggy giggled and waited. Her sisters ran past her, paying no mind as the ran to Alexander. Peggy silently scoffed, wondering if they even noticed she was gone. Samuel came back, this time dressed in a black waistcoat and a white undershirt. ( look at the pic , i love that pic of thayne ) He was struggling with the buttons, before giving up and offering his arm for Peggy to hold. Peggy took it, blushing at how polite he was acting.

"Wait, can we pass by my sisters? I want them to see what happens when I'm left to be alone," Peggy said, a devilish smile crossing her face. Samuel chuckled and walked in the direction of the sisters. He made sure to keep his head held high, knowing Alexander was standing with them. Peggy followed, also keeping her posture upright, as she was taught.

"Peggy? Who is this?" Angelica asked when she noticed them walking by.

"Samuel Seabury, ma'am," Samuel said, offering his free hand.

"Don't talk to him, he's a fucking loyalist," Alexander said, tossing a glare at Samuel. Samuel rolled his eyes and looked over at Peggy.

"Peggy, if he's truly a loyalist, don't be around him. Maybe you should go with that French suitor that's been writing you... Fleury?" Eliza said, trying to guide her sister away. ( historical , btw , i just wanna say i love fleury , hes rad )

"Eliza, I'd rather a suitor who shares ideals with me than some crazy guy who's against everyone I'm for," Peggy said. Samuel rested his hand on hers to silently tell her to calm down.

"Peggy, what ideals? I thought you liked that we were going to be free," Angelica asked, taking her sisters hands.

"Really? I don't want to be part of a country that fights and fights and fights, there's other ways to get about this and revolution is a horrible idea! Who is America to go against the largest army in Europe?" Peggy said. Samuel made quiet agreements and kept his hand where it was.

"Because it would prove that we aren't some joke, nor something to be stupidly taxed," Alexander argued. Samuel stepped in, not wanting Peggy hurt.

"Let the lady hold her beliefs," he said. Alexander stepped forward and he cowered a bit.

"Thought so. Go run along to your stupid king," Alexander said. Samuel took a deep breath and decided to disengage. He led Peggy away, closing his eyes as he walked.

"Ooh, if I didn't have a reason to hate Alexander before, now I do," Peggy said, bouncing on her toes.

"Calm down there, I don't even understand why he would want to fight for revolution. From what I'm aware, he's not even from here," Samuel said, shrugging. Peggy blew a loose strand of hair from her face and looked at the direction they were heading.

"Wait, where are we going?" Peggy asked.

"A lot of places are filled with revolutionists, so we're going to a place ran by loyalists," Samuel said. Peggy looked confused and looked up at the bakery before them. It was the same place she bought her scone from. Samuel opened the door for her and smiled while offering his hand. Peggy took it as she walked in. Samuel led her to the counter and greeted the cashier.

"Afternoon, Mr. Samuel, what can I get you and your lady?" the man said.

"I would like a single scone and get Ms. Schuyler whatever she pleases," Samuel said, smiling brightly. The cashier looked to Peggy for her order. She ordered half a loaf of bread and sat at a table by the window. Samuel paid and joined her at the table.

"Ms. Schuyler, as honored as I am that you agreed to spend the afternoon with me, I must admit that I am not rich nor have much power," Samuel said, looking down. Peggy rested her hands against Samuel's. She noticed his blush and laughed a bit.

"I don't care, as long as you're kind and loving, life would be great," Peggy said, smiling more.

"Are you sure? I know you come from a wealthy family, maybe you should take the French suitor. I'm sure he would give you a great life," Samuel said. He chewed on his lip nervously and glanced out the window.

"I'm sure. It might take some adjusting, but I can handle it," Peggy said. She noticed the positive change in Samuel's mood and giggled at the fact he was almost like a puppy with his emotions. Samuel nibbled at the scone and stared out the window with a huge smile.
