"GET OUT OF MY DAMN FACE, YOU MOTHERFUCKSTICK!" John yelled at Charles. Charles huffed angrily and didn't say a word as he picked up the birdcage.

"What are you doing?" John asked, placing his hand on top of the birdcage. Charles batted his hand away.

"Taking my bird home with me," Charles said. The bird squawked between the arguing men.

"Your bird? I practically take care of him! He's mine!" John said, putting his hand back on the cage.

"Fine, I'll bring Iago back in 3 days, just let me spend time with him for fucks sake," Charles said, rolling his eyes.

"Fucks sake!" Iago mimicked.

"See? Even Iago agrees with me," Charles said. John rolled his eyes and stomped into his room. Charles picked Iago's cage up and left the house in silence.

~~ 3 days later ~~

Charles knocked on the door, holding Iago close. John opened the door and looked at Charles.

"Here's Iago, I'll pick him up in a few days," he said, passing Iago's cage over. John took the bird without a word and sat Iago on the table he used to sit on. Iago started making a crying noise, concerning John.

"Iago, what the fuck?" he said, looking at the bird.

"Need John! I need John!" Iago said before making more crying noises. John took a moment to realize that Iago didn't need him, but it was Charles who said it. Iago was simply repeating it. He fell silent, staring as Charles' car started to drive off. He tugged out his phone and opened his messages. John still had Charles' number, he never knew if he needed to talk to him about Iago.

John dropped his phone. Charles must've blocked him. John quickly opened Instagram, looking at Charles' profile. He was blocked yet again, only seeing Charles' profile picture, which was him smiling and laughing with Samuel.

"Motherfucker..." John muttered. He tossed his phone to the side and rubbed his eyes. Iago squawked and flapped his wings harshly. John sighed and let him out to fly around. Iago flew free and made the crying sounds again. John rubbed his temples. He hated the idea of Charles crying. Finally, he found a semi-dumb plan to contact Charles.

Hey, Samuel?

Can I help you?

Well, yeah

That was rhetorical.

I'm serious! I need you to ask Charles to unblock me, I want to ask him something

He said no

How do you know? I just asked you-

Because it's Charles texting. Fuck off now

Wait! No!

John rested his face in his hands and groaned. He just wanted to know what Iago meant. Speaking of, Iago had been quiet for awhile now.

"SQUAW! I SAID, CERTIFIED FREAK! SEVEN DAYS A WEEK! WET-ASS PUSSY! MAKE THAT PULL-OUT GAME WEAK!" Iago squawked as he flew over John. John couldn't help but laugh loudly. Charles didn't listen to Cardi, and Samuel would never let that play anywhere around him, so he didn't know where Iago picked it up.

"I don't know what to do... Does he really miss me? What if I'm jumping to conclusions? What if he really does hate me?" John said to himself. He sat on the couch, replacing his head in his hands. Iago flew right next to him and squawked loudly, scaring John.

"...Get back in the cage," he said, pointing to Iago's cage.

"No!" Iago squawked out. John held out his hand for Iago to fly on, which Iago did, and placed the menacing bird into his cage. Iago made a sound of protest, threatening to nip at John while he locked it.

~~~ 3 more days ~~~
Charles stood outside of John's door, getting ready to knock. His hand was in the air, ready to knock, but he remained frozen. He had told John to fuck off when he texted Samuel's phone. After a few minutes of gathering courage, he made a calm, straight face and knocked firmly. John took a moment to answer the door, his face flushed red and Iago squawking repeatedly in his cage.
"...Charles, I assume you're here for Iago, but can I just talk to you real quick? Please?" John said, flickering his eyes away. Charles held his spot in front of the door and exhaled softly.
"What is it? I promised Sam I'd be back in 15 minutes and it's a 10 minute drive back," Charles said. John met his eyes with excitement and smiled a bit. He pulled Charles inside and basically threw him onto the couch. Charles' limbs flew into a defensive position, covering his essentials.
"Relax, I'm not mad at you, well not until you explain what Iago meant," John said, pointing at the bird. Iago squawked, as if he knew he was being spoken about.
"Was it the WAP lyrics?" Charles asked, looking right at Iago.
"No, but he did say some. I'm talking about him making crying noises and saying 'I need John', Iago repeats what he hears, not make stuff up," John said, looking right at Charles. Charles leaned over to look right at Iago.
"I let you listen to WAP to avoid this," he said, pointing an accusing finger at the bird. John made Charles look at him and raised his eyebrow.
"So he didn't make stuff up?" John said. Charles stayed quiet before taking a deep breath.
"Iago must've heard me crying that morning," he said softly. John's face softened as he sat next to Charles.
"I'm sorry... I shouldn't have been so upset at you..." John said quietly. Charles buried his face into John's shoulder, taking a deep, slow breath. John had the same smell as a week ago when they last held each other close.
"What'd you promise to Samuel?" John asked after a moment of them sitting in silence.
"I gotta fix his closet door, he broke it last night," Charles laughed softly. John ran his hand up Charles' neck and through his hair, landing a sweet kiss on Charles' forehead.
"Well, hurry up, you said you only had 5 extra minutes," John said, moving slightly so Charles would be fairly uncomfortable with their position.
"Mmmm, fine, but I'll come back, I swear, Iago is somehow the best and worst bird," Charles said, glaring playfully at Iago. He got up and stretched a bit.
"Good, I don't know if I could survive much longer without my handsome boyfriend," John said, not so casually checking Charles out.
"Handsome? I didn't know you had another boyfriend, who is he?" Charles joked. John laughed and stood up as well, capturing Charles in a hug from behind. He sat his head on Charles' shoulder, looking at him.
"Oh, you know I mean you, don't make me kiss away that self doubt," John threatened before kissing Charles' jawline. Charles moved his head slightly so John could get a better angle.
"If those are the kinds of kisses, then sure, kiss it all away. But no hickeys, I don't want to look like I got a hookup before I went to Sam's," Charles said.
"No, it'd be kissing on everything I love about you. Go hurry and leave now!" John said, tugging away.
"I've been trying, you're just too distracting!" Charles said as he left the house.
"God... I love him," John said to himself when the door shut.
"I love him!" Iago mimicked, squawking loudly. John rolled his eyes and threw a blanket over the cage in attempt to shut the bird up.
