Charles was protective, to say the least. Not in an overbearing, you-have-to-tell-me-where-you-are kind of way, but more like fuck-with-my-boyfriend-and-you'll-never-see-the-light-of-day-again kind of way. If you cause Samuel a single tear of pain, Charles will be barreling at you, as fast as possible, with murder in his eyes. Samuel has seen it happen, it was quite hilarious and frightening. It gets even more adorable and hilarious when Charles doesn't know exactly caused the pain, so he starts yelling at inanimate objects. Or he'll yell at them if they somehow made Samuel hurt. Again, it's happened before. Charles yelled at a door because it hit Samuel's arm, causing a minor bruise. He called it karma when said door got broken a week later, Samuel said it was coincidence and doors don't exactly get karma because they aren't alive.
Nonetheless, Samuel loves his boyfriend, no matter what shit he gets himself into when trying to be protective.
Except when Charles gets chased out of a park by a killdeer bird because it squawked at Samuel. That's just hilarious. He claimed he just got rid of the threat, Samuel just said he ran around for no reason.
But, again, in the end, he could never fail to make Samuel blush by just holding him close, glaring at some stranger and saying "Mine.".
