POV | Ryujin

I got up, getting out of bed, and felt lonely like every morning. I wish I had a girl to kiss and spoil but.. I was afraid of love. I sighed, sulking my way to my closet. I put on a tank top with leggings, getting ready to go for a run before work.

I took my purse and stuff, putting in my earbuds, and went outside. It was a peaceful morning with the birds chirping and beautiful flowers every block you crossed. It was spring and summer was coming.

I put on one of my favorite songs, Eight by IU. Eight reminded me of when I lost my brother.

A few tears came down my face, thinking of me and my brother holding hands and dancing under the sun, talking about our future life and how he wanted to be a father. My heart ached just thinking about it.

While he was in his death bed, he said to me, "Ryujin.. you listen to me. Have a family and love your wife." And then I left, to go get the water he wanted. And when I came back, he was gone. For good. Without a goodbye.

I sniffled, whispering weakly, "But how?" I then realized I arrived at the smoothie shop I worked at. "Ryujin? Are you okay?" My boss Heejin came outside. I paused the song, "I-I'm fine.." I sniffled again, walking inside, and going behind the counter, feeling miserable. My co-workers just patting my back, watching me just break down into tears and hug them all.

POV | Lia

Ryujin. How do you even explain her?

Her brother passed away I think maybe a year ago and she's never been the same. I miss my friend. My happy energetic loving friend.

I know her brother meant a lot to her. She would share the deepest secrets with him. What broke my heart was his last words, telling Ryujin to have a family and love her wife. And so I've tried. I've tried so hard to find someone for her. She's afraid of love though.

I caught her singing this song one day, "And I wanna cry, I wanna fall in love but all my tears have been used up.." I felt like crying just watching her sing her heart out.

I whispered in her ear, "I'm sorry.." Ryujin pulled away, crying, and going in the back, leaving us three just standing there in silence, but you could hear the crying noises from the back. Our boss Heejin said, "Is she okay?" Yuna said, "Give her the day off.. she's having another one of those days. But I'm glad she's letting it out because she likes to pretend everything's okay.. and that the world is rainbows and unicorns." I nodded in agreement. "Alright.. Lia, why don't you spend it with her?" Heejin says. "Uh sure.." I nervously bit my lip. "Thank you.." I said, before going to the back to go get her.

Ryujin was sitting in a chair with her legs spread, and her holding her head in between them, "I'm so done.." She said. I sat next to her, rubbing her back, "Hey.. come on.. you can do this.. you're gonna get through this.." Ryujin sniffled, showing her red and teary face, "But how?" I looked down, "We'll figure it out. I promise. Uh.. Heejin gave us the day off.. so you wanna go on a walk or something?" Ryujin put her hands on her thighs, "I've got nothing else to do." I gave a sad smile, taking her hand, and walking outside with her. "So.. rough morning?"
