POV | Ryujin

I walked into the gymnasium with my team and then suddenly a girl came running at me with her cheer skirt and uniform on. My smile grew large when she jumped onto my waist.

I held onto my #1 cheerleader as she fixed my ponytail and headband, "Hey, you look amazing, now go get 'em Ryuddaeng!"

Yeji jumped down and I hugged her, kissing her cheek but looked like I was just whispering in her ear which I ended up doing, "Keep cheering for me, love."

Yeji held her pom poms, "R, Y, U, J, I, N!"

I pouted, "Alright, I have to practice."

She smiled, mouthing since our parents were in the crowd, "I love you."

I couldn't help but show my whisker dimples, watching my girlfriend go back to her team as I went to mine.

"Seriously, you two are the cutest couple ever," Heejin, my point guard says.

I scratched my head, "Alright, girls! Let's go out there and get this shit sealed, we're going to the playoffs, right?!"

"Yeah!" They yell in our huddle.

I get to the middle because I was the team captain and look at every girl, "We are gonna go out there and fight for our spot! Let's communicate and get this shit going!"

They respond, "Yeah!"

I put my hand in, "Alright, put the hands in."

Each girl put in their hand and we yelled, "3! 2! 1! Itzysssss!"

We get out of the huddle and started warming up like coach said to.

"Hey, Coach Kim, why don't you let me play a little more today?" I went off to the side with her.

"Ryujin, I can't overwork you, you're our captain and first string."

I cover my mouth, "But my girlfriend is here..."

Coach Kim looked at me, "She's always been here, she's apart of our cheerleading squad. Now, go back to warming up."

Fuck. I went back to warming up and soon the refs blew their whistle.

"Coach, you gotta let me in," I mumble, ready to go in.

Heejin came off saying, "Coach, I need a sub."

We were losing with only a few minutes left and coach looked at me, "Fuck, get out there already," She gave a nudge to my shoulder and I ran out, starting the play.

I dribbled the basketball, moving forward to the other side of the court, and just as I was going to get a simple lay-up, I collide with the defense.

I fell onto the hard wood ground, everything stopping for a second, and I got up, hearing whistles for the harsh penalty, and then right after collapsing. Everything stopped. For good.

POV | Yeji

I was yelling about the penalty to the refs when I looked over and saw my girlfriend collapse. I gasp, running over, but got pushed back by the medical team running to her. I watched the medical team start performing cpr and I panicked.

"No, no! No!!!!" I yelled.

My cheerleading team tried pulling me back, "They need room for her Yeji!"

Ryujin's parents came down from the stand. This was a college game and it was a huge one.

Minutes and minutes went by with me sobbing and her teammates crying as well. At the last second before 6 minutes, they finally stabilized her heart, and put her into a stretcher, rushing her out. I immediately ran with the paramedics, finally getting through, and went into the ambulance that her parents weren't able to get to because of the huge crowd and their incapability of being fast. I held her hand, watching her fight, and couldn't handle it.
