the sun was starting to set as you made your way back home. you had bought dinner for the three of you.

sliding the door open, you stepped into the house. you closed the door with your leg, making your way to the common room. you placed the food down on the table.

"ayumu, go wake mum up, tell her it's time for dinner," you called out to your brother as you prepared the food.

"ayumu?" you asked, noticing how he didn't reply.

your heart rate sped up as you stopped what you were doing.

"ayumu? ayumu?" you ran into the room where you assumed he was in.

and there, curled up next to your mother, was your brother.

"ayumu," you kneeled down beside him.

he immediately pushed himself up, wrapping his arms around your waist.

"ayu..?"

he started crying, his tears soaking through your kimono.

your heart dropped when reality hit you. you quickly reached out to your mother. taking a hold of her hand. you tried to look for a pulse. but unfortunately found none.

"but... it hasn't even been a week yet..."
