it was almost midnight, you had finally managed to get your little brother to bed after so long.

making your way to the kitchen, you poured a warm cup of water and brought it to the room where your sick mother was resting in. you placed the cup down onto the wooden floor  next to where your mother was lying, asleep on a futon

blowing the candles, the room went dark once again. before leaving the room, you turn to check on your brother. you heard his soft snores sounding through the room. you stepped out, and shut the door as quietly as you could.

ever since your father had passed away, you were left to take care of your mother and brother. you didn't mind, though it gets stressful at times. having to tend to your mother's needs twenty four seven. and with your five year old brother's stubbornness. it gets hard sometimes.

you made your way to the kitchen, going to wash the dishes. but a sudden thud had caught your attention.

you walked out of the kitchen and to the living room where the sound came from. it was as if something had slammed into the window.

you heard soft tapping coming from the other side of the glass. you cautiously made your way over to the window and peeled the curtains away.

and there, perched on the other side of the glass panel, was a crow with a letter grasped in its legs.

once again, it tapped its beak against the glass, as if asking for you to open it — which you did.

you slid the window open, allowing the crow to hop in.

and much to your dismay, the crow opened its loud mouth. "letter for kocho shinobu!" it announced. you quickly crouched down and wrapped your fingers around its beak. "shh..!" you hushed it in a panicked tone.

the crow panicked, thinking that it had done something wrong. it dropped the letter onto the floor before flapping its wings aggressively.

you let go of its beak and allowed it to fly out the window, into the night to where it came from.

you honestly weren't surprised to see a talking crow. after all, your father was once a demon slayer and had a crow just like that.

you stood up and went over to the opened window, sliding it close. you silently made your way to the room where your brother and mother were sleeping in, checking to see if they woke up from how loud the crow was.

letting out a relieved sigh when you noticed they were still fast asleep, you went back out into the common room.

you picked the letter off the floor, raising a brow in question. you were too tired from the lack of sleep that you had forgotten what the crow had announced.

you unrolled the piece of paper and read its contents.

it was letter about medications. and other things you didn't really understand. though the last sentenced confused you further.

i am not disliked by people.

shrugging it off, you rolled it back and placed it aside. disregarding the accidental letter you had received from a random kasugai crow.
