"food..!" your younger brother repeated as he watched you place a scoop of rice into a bowl. "food!"
"i know, i know," you walked over to where ayumu was seated, placing the bowl of rice in front of him. you went back to the kitchen to bring over the miso soup you had prepared.
"don't touch it, it's hot," you warned your younger brother as you placed the hot soup in front of him.
"thank you!" he smiled, reaching out to take a handful of rice with his bare hands.
you quickly grab his wrist to stop him from doing so, "i just told you it's hot, use a spoon ayumu," you sighed out.
"there's no spoon here..?"
"i'll go get one for you, don't touch it with your hands." you went back to the kitchen to grab a spoon and made your way back.
"ayumu, geez what did i just say?" you sighed out when you walked in to see your brother shoving a hand full of rice in his mouth, dropping a few grains on the floor.
"i'm too hungry," he simply replied.
you reached over to take a paper towel, going over to him, you wiped his hands clean. "here, use this," you handed the spoon to him. "thank you!" he exclaimed before eating his rice.
you went back into the kitchen, coming back out with a bowl of rice and soup. you made your way into the room where your mother was waiting.
"sorry, ayumu was being troublesome again," you placed the food in front of your mother.
"it's fine, thank you for taking care of him," your mother smiled, giving you a grateful smile. "i would love to help you out, but my body is getting too weak. i'm sorry."
"it's okay, i don't mind," you smiled back at her.
"bird!" you heard your younger brother shouting from outside. you let out a sigh and left the room.
"what now..."
"bird! bird! look it's a bird!" your brother clapped his hand in excitement.
there it was again, the same kasugai crow from last night. you went over and opened the window, allowing it to come in.
"hello miss! i seem to have sent the letter to the wrong person! my apologies, may i have it back?"
"yeah, sure, hold on," you went over to the table, where you had placed the letter.
"here you go," you placed the paper in front of it. "thank you!" it picked it up and flew out of the window.
"do all birds talk then?" your brother asked from behind you.
"nope, it's just the crows," you simply replied. after settling everything, you sat yourself next to your brother to have your own breakfast.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
"i'm not tired?"
"just go to bed, please..."
"no."
"ayumu."
"you go to bed."
"i- excuse me?"
"if you can stay up, then i will stay up too."
"ayumu no you can't do that-"
"why not?"
"..."
"bird!"
"no, no bird-"
"bird!"
you turned around to see a crow standing outside your window again.
"again?" you asked, walking over to open the window.
"letter for kocho shinobu!" it announced, dropped the letter, and left.
"kocho who?" you asked, to no one in particular.
not bothering to read the letter this time, you placed it on the table before going back into the room to get your brother to sleep.
after a few minutes of pointless arguing, ayumu finally knocked out.
you went back outside and decided to write your own letter.
hey, i don't know who this is, but your crow keeps sending me letters that are meant for someone else, who's name is "kocho shinobu" ? just thought i should let you know :)
and as expected, the crow came flying back the next morning. you had intentionally left the window open that morning, letting it fly in.
"... i'm sorry... it seems that i have sent the letter to the wrong person again..."
"it's okay, here you go," you returned the accidental letter. "also, do you mind giving this letter to your owner as well?"
"okay!" it announced. allowing you to tie both of the letters to its leg. and with that, it flew off. hopefully to the right person.
