you didn't realise you had fallen asleep until you woke up the next morning. you were woken up by the bright light that shined through the window. rubbing at your eyes, you let out a tired yawn. forcing your them open, you blinked a few times to adjust to the brightness of the room.
"what the—" you quickly slapped your hands over your mouth. eyes widened, fully awake now as you recalled what happened last night.
after telling giyuu about ayumu's illness, you started crying at the thought of losing someone else. giyuu decided to stay the night to accompany you. you must have fallen asleep and ended up like this, with your head resting on his lap.
slowly pushing yourself up into a sitting position, you decided to go make some food. as you quietly made your way to the kitchen, you couldn't help but take one last glance at the sleeping man.
crap, he's really cute...
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
you made some miso soup with rice, and just as you finished cooking, giyuu had woken up.
you had a slight difficulty with looking at giyuu now, after waking up like that, you were embarrassed. you were glad he didn't wake up before you.
"you're being awfully quiet, are you okay?"
"hm? what? yeah, i'm fine. anyway i made miso soup, you can have some if you want. i'll go check up on ayumu now, bye."
not waiting for his reply, you swiftly made your way out of the kitchen.
once you were out of his sight, you slapped your hands over your face, letting out a breath of air you didn't know you were holding. your heart was racing as you felt heat rushing up to your face.
taking in a deep breath, you calmed yourself down.
dumbass. getting all worked up over nothing.
shaking your head, you made your way to ayumu's room to check on him.
shutting the door behind you, you sat yourself next to the sick boy, placing the back of your hand against his forehead. the medications seem to be working as his forehead wasn't as hot as compared to the pass few days.
you decided to go get a wet cloth to place on his forehead to cool it down a little more. leaving the room, you made your way back into the kitchen where giyuu was busy washing the dishes.
"oh, how's ayumu?" he asked, moving aside so you could fill up the small bucket with water.
"he's better," you simply replied.
once you were done filling the bucket, you went to grab a new cloth and made your way back to ayumu's room.
taking the dry cloth, you soaked it with water before wringing it and placing it on his forehead.
you were about to leave the room when you heard voices outside.
giyuu was talking to someone.
opening the door, you poked your head out to see who it was.
"ah! [y/n]-san, hello!"
"oh, shinobu-san, what are you doing here?" you stepped out of the room and shut the door behind you.
"hm? i'm just paying you a visit, also figured tomioka-san would be here again," she gave the water pillar a smile. which he scowled at.
"anyway, what are you up to today?" shinobu turned back to you.
"nothing much, i've just been taking after my brother, he has been sick these pass few days."
"oh my, your brother is sick? thats awful, i hope he gets better soon," she frowned.
"thank you," you sighed. "i also have a favour to ask if you're okay with it," you added.
"what is it?"
"could you stay here for a while? i need to go get some herbs to help with ayumu's fever," you asked.
"i don't mind at all, i'm pretty free now, and i'd love to meet your brother too!" she smiled, "but tomioka-san--"
"i'm going with her," he interrupted.
"you are?" both you and shinobu asked at the same time.
"oh, you are," you mumbled.
without another word, giyuu left.
"oh well, i'll be back in an hour, thank you shinobu-san!" you waved her goodbye. "oh right! i made miso soup, you can have some if you want!" and with that you exited the house.
"you really don't like her, do you?" you asked as you followed him down the snowy path.
"she gets on my nerves," he sighed, slowing down a little so you could catch up with him.
"i don't think she means it though," you shrugged.
"still gets on my nerves."
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
not long after you and giyuu left, ayumu had woken up.
"well hello there, you must be ayumu, i'm shinobu," the insect pillar greeted the young boy.
"uhm, hello, do you know where my sister is?"
"she went out to get some herbs for you, she'll be back soon so don't worry," she gave the boy a small smile.
the two of them proceeded to have breakfast together in the kitchen. as they ate, they had a small conversation to get to know each other better. ayumu started talking a little more as he slowly got comfortable with her.
when they were done eating, shinobu offered to help wash the dishes.
"hino-san, i need to take my medicine now," ayumu reminded her.
"oh right, bring it over, i'll get a cup of water for you."
popping the pill in his mouth, he drank it down with some water.
"it tastes disgusting..."
"but it'll help you feel better," shinobu gave him a pat on the head before keeping the medicine.
"are you a doctor too?"
"i'm pretty skilled in the medical field so i guess you could say that," she replied.
"then, hino-san, what's leukemia?"
