another chapter 😲
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬1:47 p.m.
"why'd you wake up so late today? i had to make my own breakfast," ayumu asked as he watched you enter the kitchen. "i was tired," you lied, knowing the reason you actually got up late today was because you spent the whole morning hiding in your room until you were sure giyuu was asleep. "sorry. i'll go make breakfast for you right now-"
"no need!" ayumu grinned, "i made my own breakfast."
oh no.
if there was one thing your brother couldn't do, it would be cooking. because to him, cooking is just mixing a bunch of his favourite food together. like that one time he threw in a bowl of chocolate chip in his chicken soup. and the time he dipped his strawberry shortcake in soy sauce. or when he made a sandwich with banana, eggs, peanut butter and cheese. the list goes on.
you stood in the kitchen, silently staring at the empty plate in front of ayumu. "so... what did you make this time..?" you forced a smile, genuinely afraid of what your brothers' reply would be.
"huhu... i'm glad you asked!" the six year old let out a chuckle as he slowly stood up from his seat. "mashed potato!"
"like what did you do?"
"i just took two potatoes and squashed them in this bowl," he picked up the now empty bowl and held it up as he explained.
huh, that isn't too bad.
"i also added banana and mayonnaise and a little bit of chilli powder!"
oh my god.

"[y/n]..." ayumu groaned in pain as he rolled around his bed, clutching onto his stomach. "it huuuuuuuuurts..."
you let out a sigh, "it's probably hurting because you used expired banana in your mashed potato..."
"i didn't knowwww!" he whined, bringing his knees to his chest as he rolled away from you.
"turn around ayumu, i can't apply this ointment for you if you're facing the other way," you reached a hand out, grabbing onto his shoulder to turn him around.
he let out another groan as he turns to lay on his back. you lifted his shirt up and applied the ointment on his abdomen. "it smells weird," he complained, pinching his nose and pushing your hand away.
"it's suppose to make your stomach pain go away, so deal with it," you shook your head, placing the bottle of ointment on the dresser next to his bed. "now rest, i'll go make something more... edible."

5:13 p.m.
just as you finished washing up the dishes you heard a door opening and someone making their way into the kitchen.
you wiped your hands on your shirt not really bothering to use a paper towel, you were planning on taking a shower later anyway.
turning around, you were expecting to see your younger brother but instead locked eyes with giyuu. "oh! good morning," you greeted, "or afternoon." you gave him a small smile, still a little embarrassed about what happened this morning. well at least he has a shirt on this time (unfortunately).
"mhmm, you cooked?" he asked, running a hand through his dark hair as he made his way towards you.
"for ayumu?"
"yeah, but there's enough for the three of us, so if you're hungry, you can have some too," you offered. "it's chicken porridge by the way, ayumu isn't feeling well so i made something more simple," you explained, moving aside so giyuu could pour himself a cup of water.
"he's sick? again? is it serious? if it is, we can bring him to kocho. she should still be home right now, we can ask her for help or-"
"it's okay," you couldn't help but smile at how worried giyuu was for your brother. it was so sweet. a side of him you wish to see more. "it's just a stomach ache, he made his own breakfast this morning and mixed a bunch of things together, one of them being expired banana."
"oh... okay. i see," giyuu let out a sigh, relaxing his shoulders as he took a sip of water. "anyway, help yourself with the food. i'll go wake ayumu up," you then made your way out of the kitchen and into ayumus' room.
"time to wake up ayumu, lunch is ready," you pulled the blanket off of him and gently shook him awake.
ayumu furrowed his eyebrows, mumbling something under his breath.
"what's wrong? you okay?" you asked, concern laced in your voice.
"my stomach still hurts..."
"here, drink some water," you grabbed the cup on the dresser, slowly helping ayumu to sit up.
"... now i feel like puking," he mumbled. "and my head hurts," he had his eyes shut as he leaned against your frame. not making any effort to take the cup of water from you. you placed the cup down, wrapping an arm around ayumu to support him. your other hand pushing his hair away from his forehead. you placed the back of your palm against his it and then his neck.
it was warm. very warm.
you gently laid him back down onto the bed. "...am i sick again..?" he asked, voice softer and weaker than before.
"yes, but it's okay, you're gonna be fine. i'll go get some medicine for you okay? you just lay here and rest," you covered his body with the blanket, tucking him back in bed before leaving the room.
"what's wrong?" giyuu asked as he watched you rush out of ayumus' room. "he's sick, again," you pressed your fingers against your temple, shaking your head in frustration.
"it's been happening so often lately, i'm scared," you mumbled out, quickly making your way towards the front door.
"sorry, but could you-"
"yeah, i know. i'll look after him, don't worry."
"thank you."
